MurderFX - Thanks for the measurement for the hole...looks like I'll be getting a new step drill bit on the way home from work today! It's never a bad thing to buy a tool that will have so many more uses in life...I'll just have to create new projects to use it for!

RockWVU - I've read this whole thread - there are plenty of options and pros/cons for each one, depending on how you wish the lights to operate, and how you use your truck... I've weighed the options and I am wiring to the battery with a dedicated switch in the bed. This is most convenient for me and my needs/uses.

Yessir, a man can never have too many tools, and having the right one for the job always makes it easier.

I preferred the direct to the battery approach as well. I've never had a toggle switch go bad, and with the electrical nightmares I've heard about with these trucks, I wasn't about to splice into anything.

Goal: have enough juice for anything I'd ever want without tapping a factory circuit, which may limit me. I ran#10 (or #8?) through split loom and around/through frame under the truck. I used a relay to power the aux reverse lights (feed from large line, but triggered from tow system's rev lighting). Also, I like to power items at the rear of the truck through a exterior rated 12v socket, so added that in truck bed. Then installed bed lights, fed from large line, through toggle switch. Just bought a pin switch a few weeks ago and will install in warmer weather so bed lights only come on web gate opens. Good luck with your choices!

Ever since I put bed lighting in I get the "power off to save battery" text when I turn the ignition off.

I have power coming directly off of the battery with an inline fuse.

Any idea how to make it stop doing this?

Does it only do it when the lights are on? Or all the time? Where did you get your power from?

It does it while the lights are on or off.

Sure Brianw, I'll put a few images together. Need a high level wiring diagram too?

Sounds like it's an issue with the battery sensor. I remember reading somewhere on here that there is a reset/re-calibration for that.
