I personally prefer the King Ranch, I get compliments all the time on the color (Golden Bronze w/adobe lower trim)and the interior. The newer interior is much more durable and forgiving to stains than the older saddle style leather. This truck is awesome. As far as the retractable steps, I decided to stay away from them because up north we have winters with salt, anti-skid and frozen ice/snow which can interfere with it's travel. I friends with an explorer with these steps and they have had some of these issues with them in the winter.

Not true, very low cost of ownership. I own one and put on 30-40k a year and trade in every 2-4 years.

As for the power steps...love'em. They are much wider and when deployed, hang down lower...makes getting in and out so easy.

The Raptor is nice for sure. I got to test drive one for quite a bit. The reason I did not go that route was I did not need a truck that can jump 4 feet and the ride was not as good of course. I also wanted the long bed.

Bottom line...they are all really nice, just depends on what look and what features you want.
You are the first person I have ever seen/heard say that. The opposite is actually true, the raptors are know for having the best ride of any 1/2 ton truck.

Well I just meant it gets a few less mpgs vs a stock f150 and tires/shocks are crazy expensive.

People are getting 60k out of the stock tires, and have found them from $265-300 per tire depending on promotion.

The shocks should last a long time, and by the time they go there is a large aftermarket.

I guess I should have elaborated...
I drive my truck 100% on road. That is where the Raptor is not as good but pretty amazing considering the travel they have. Now if I needed to go 60mph across a plowed field...raptor all the way!

I spent a lot of time in a Raptor. I found the bigger the bump, the faster I hit it, the better it felt. And that is what that truck is made for. It is a basic compromise between off road and on with the Raptor having priorities off road. On road is good...but nowhere near platty long bed. Sorry. (And to be fair...would anyone expect a Raptor to ride like a luxury street truck?)

You can also feel the wheelbase. The shorter, the more it rocks you front to back. The same can be said about the width but around here, it didn't make much difference that I could feel.

And is a Raptor really a 1/2 ton truck? I did not think you could put a lot of weight in the bed...oh well, that's for a different topic.

Back on topic...the King Ranch is just as nice as a Platinum, just depends on what finishes you like better.
