New Truck . . . New Member
I've been lurking for months and just purchased a White Ecoboost Lariat last Saturday. This one has the offroad package and 20" 6 spoke rims. I guess the offroad package comes with the 3.73 gears and in dash trailer brake controller.
I took the advice that many of you have said which was to find the truck you want and either motor would suit my needs. That's what I did, even though at the time I think I would have taken the 5.0 if they had it in the same truck. I drove the eco back to back against the 5.0 and actually had better mpg with the 5.0 on about a 15 mile country road type route. I tried to drive both equally over this period. I was ready to leave the dealer and the salesman said, you know, you're allowed to drive it longer if you want. So I took it out for about 45 minutes. I got on the freeway and set the cruise at 65 mph, reset the mpg calculator and went about 15 miles in one direction, turned around and came back. I was averaging 19 mpg whe I got off the freeway. Not great, but ok I guess. Anyways, when I got back to the dealer, I said what the hell, guess I'll take it.
Hopefully mpg's will improve, but the truck drives great and I love the interior. I needed a new truck primarily for winter snowmobile trips. I'm hoping for at least 14-15 hiway mpg pulling two sleds in an enclosed trailer.
So far, I'm looking into a bed cover, mainly Bakflip F1, headlight lens protectors, mud flaps, and floor mats before winter. Any suggestions? I don't like seeing the negative reviews on the Bakflip (quality and leakage). I like its functionality and low profile.
Happy to come aboard. I'll see If I can get some pics up soon.
