There was a huge write up about these last year. I have used mine for almost 2 years now. I just disassembled the switch blade and took the blank out and took it to home depot and they cut it no problems.

I do not have remote start but I do not think anyone has been sucessful getting a switchblade aftermarket to work with remote start.

Now, I think you are crazy, I would rather walk around with a normal key and have remote start capabilities VS having a flip key. lol

Great write up, I am sure there will be another surge in switchblade keys due to your write up.

I just ordered this one. I'll let you guys know if those one works.
This is the one that I have had for a couple years now. Read my comments above about taking the blank out of remote to have it cut.

Sorry Rider I should have looked at your OP more carefully. I see you have the remote start key. That does answer my question though as I would have went with the 4 button remote since that is what the OEM has. So it is interesting that even from Factory it will not work! So that really makes this a doubtful option for the remote start but still a good one to get rid of the funky key! It must be using a different signal. I remember reading that you couldn't get the remote start for the Escape if it had the sliding door! I now can figure they work on the same frequency. So I can bet these won't work with the sliding door either! So I think I will just get a 3 button one and try that since you have the 4 button one and we know that doesn't work. I will report back with the results, either way I will be a happy camper and probably will cut the key off or better yet just take out the remote and make it fit one of the many mustang remotes I have! That way I will carry that and if I get rid of the truck I can just put the remote part back in the key!!!

I agree. Then again I live in ND and use my starter most of the time for either heat or AC, plus I have an aftermarket one so it actually works from over ten feet away, lol! I guess if I had a factory one I wouldn't use it often either, as it doesn't work from far enough away to make it worthwhile in most cases. Also I've never once had a key dig into my leg, maybe their main problem is they have the wrong kind of pants, haha!

You know a bigger wallet, phone and things!!! All I know is that it happens to me and the other day I had the keys in my shorts when I was washing the mustang and from bending over and such while washing I noticed the key was sticking out! Glad I noticed it before I leaned into the car! But this is all for not! It isn't that we are saying this is for everyone,, it is that the ones on this post that are interested for whatever reason, will like this setup. and by the way my factory remote with the key works about 200 ft. as I said better than most report and also you can get the factory remote with a two way function that has a strong antenna that mounts behind the mirror that will go over 1000 ft and don't have to butcher the OEM wiring!

at 6'4" and 280lbs I doubt they make a pair I could fit in,,,, and if they did, and I was nuts enough to wear them I would have to go to the hospital to have the key removed!! LOL!

Sultan,, you know as I do, at 200ft it still isn't good for what I use to use it for! I agree 100% but you have me thinking to see if I can Mod that damn thing! I never looked into it but I think I will! If it doesn't work I may try the one I mentioned above. I have installed the aftermarket ones before and my comment about hacking the OEM wiring may be outdated. I haven't done one in several years and wonder if they have a quick connector like they do for the stereo! If so I may look into one but I never liked hacking the ignition switch 8 or 10 gauge wires.
