Default K&M air filter ?

Is K&N air filter worth putting in my Ecoboost if I'm keeping it stock?

No. Unless you like sound. Because it will make it sound different.

I put a K&N filter in the stock air box on my 5.4 and my mileage decreased.

I put one on my eco and you are right, I can hear a very slight whine like noise on acceleration. I like the idea that I will never have to buy a new air filter. I'm pretty **** about keeping it clean. Just be careful not to put too much oil on when cleaning. I probably wouldn't have put it on except I had it on my old 09 5.4 and it was like new yet. I did not notice any performance enhancements, but I wasn't expecting any.

By how much? I put a K&N in my wife's vehicle (Honda Pilot) and didn't notice any mileage decrease.

drop-in filters are a sham. they'll benefit you in no way at all. and I have personally seen a handful of Powerstrokes that had blown turbos, and also happened to have K&N filters. seemingly the weave isn't so tight on them and they would allow debris into the engine. on top of that, the oil used in lifetime air filters can occasionally cause MAFs to foul out.

Not even if you're modifying it...

If you decide to out a aftermarket filter in the truck go with a DRY Airaid or DRY AEM.

I bought a Airair Jr Intake for my truck ONLY to change the tube. Since it came with a new filter I installed it. It was so loud and cause a resonation in the cab, so bad it would vibrate the skinny pedal. I removed the Airaid filter and sold it to a friend. Kept the Airaid tube and put a Motorcraft filter back in. Vibration and resonation stopped!
