I have to admit I lucked out; I work on an Army post and the local shop does just about everything and charges peanuts. I think I paid like $30 for them to install it.

I only picked up my 13 F150 about 3 weeks ago, and the first thing me and my wife noticed was how wide the doors swing out. These are a must have! I will be ordering these come pay day next week.

Thank you Northlights for creating such a nice upgrade and simple solution to this annoyance, and for the endless entertainment that is this thread (mainly your narration). You sir deserve a slow clap.

Clap......... Clap...clap

Unless these hands of yours are Guinness book of records big??
I took about a 4-5 month break, the winter . I was able to instal the passenger sider on 14 SCREW. There is some type of distribution panel over the top of the access plug. I was able to feel around with my large hands and found the mounting bolt on the panel, right side, 8 or 9mm. I removed that one and loosened the other side giving me room pull the plug away enough to get the old part out. Installing new part was very easy. Glad I finished the mod

I think I have the correct part number for the door check assembly:

9L3Z-1522886-A

Retail price is $24...seeing them from the online parts places for about $18.

If anyone can confirm that this is the right number, that would be great help.

I'll get one or two and have the local machine shop carve a third detent in between the existing "too far in" and "too far out" detents.

Northlight,
You can put me on the early bird order list. I like this idea

I guess that would be the late bird list hey!!

All kidding aside, these are one of the best mods you can do. I put them on right after I bought my truck. Really this is how Ford should have made them.

Couldn't agree more. It's one of the two mods I've done (the other being f150 lifts, grill light kit) that makes me happy every day. Every single time I open my door, I'm reminded what a fantastic modification and product quality.
Maybe it's because I've lived with those doors since my 05, but I am so grateful to Northlight for making them.
Worth every penny, even at full price.

Awesome product!!!
The company I work with has a few company trucks & they bought 2 sets...
But they will be buying new trucks soon.... They have the original detents & I told them I would swap them out, so I may have a couple pair of good used ones for sale soon!
This mod is one of the best ones we could ever do for our trucks!
