A WOT run is obviously not a great idea right after it is started.

I like tachometers. I can see why people would. with a manual, it's pretty obvious.
with an auto, I'd really prefer to know the engine speed anyway. aside from curiosity LOL, it can tell you things that help with fuel economy etc, how hard the truck is working, particularly in certain environments and such. and plus, if you pay attention to it and get to know your truck's engine speed habits, who knows, it may end up being what tells you there's something wrong with your truck. and on a non-functional note, in many cases, I think it completes a gauge cluster (looks-wise).
you can certainly do without it with an auto trans, but I'd rather have it than not. I don't think I could get to know my truck and her habits as good without it, and that's important to me.
that's what I think of it....

0.9% is for suckers!
I remote start and let it run a bit anyway. No reason to get in, start and go unless ur just a poor time manager anyway. I can remember getting home from a trip and sitting in my 6.7 for a few minutes to let it run a bit ( it had been sitting for a week in Dec at the airport).
As I was sitting there I spied another new SuperDuty and a guy walking up, getting in and driving off before he even got the door closed it seems like, lol. At that point I realized why I feel more comfortable buying new. For sure a diesel will warm up quicker driving, but I never had an issue letting it warm up a few minutes. Couldn't hurt

Thanks all. All good answers with stuff to apply my one remaining brain cell to.
