This is the first thing I did to my truck. Bak G2 Retractable Tonneau. Almost 2 years now. Stays dry inside, just make sure to cut the tail gate seal the right length. Like I screwed it up the first time.

I'm sure it goes without saying, but don't base your decision off of what one person says. If you look around and search here on this forum and others, the general consensus of the Peragon is almost all positive. Some have trouble with leaks here and there. It isn't advertised as waterproof and only the full fiberglass covers that wrap the bedsides can really do that.

I've personally had two Peragon's. One on my last truck and one on my current one that is painted to match. I've had it through numerous storms in and around Texas since i've had it and it does leak a bit at each of the corners, but not so much that it is a big issue. I've got a BedRug so it is really easy to tell where it leaks.

FYI, I had the BakFlip VP before the Peragon and it was terrible. It leaked 10x what the Peragon does. No customer service whatsoever and never got a return call or email. The President of Peragon is on this site and monitors posts frequently. If you haven't already, give him a call and he will answer any and all questions and help you make a more informed decision.

Just my thoughts anyway

Finding the best bed cover for how you use your truck can be a project! I'm sorry to hear you decided not to go with a Peragon cover, but if you need a waterproof cover then you will be better off with a one-piece lid. The Peragon cover offers great security, flexibility to haul larger items and good weather protection. Retractable / folding covers in general are not waterproof and you'll get some leakage normally along the edges and in the corners of the bed. I keep gear that has to stay bone dry in Rubbermaid-style totes and then I don't have to think about any drips. The totes also keep gear organized, clean and make it fast to load / unload when I need to use my bed for other things. Food for thought!

Thanks for the info. I haven't made a decision yet. I'm leaning towards the Peragon but need to decide if I want black or painted to match the truck . I was hoping to have by the 11th of this month (for a trip that I'm taking ) but if I want custom painted then I won't have it in time.
I may just go with black.

So far so good with my BakFlip VP...no leaks even with the monsoon rain we've been getting. Bought it because I like the low profile look with the vinyl covering.

I was going to go with a VP. But I don't like that it covers the rear window when it's open all the way. How long have you had it ,? I do like that it can be opened and locks into place in different increments . I believe it's four sections?

I've had it about 6 month's now and have been pleased with it so far. It has 3 sections that fold and yes they do hide the rear window when tilted up if you need the whole bed. Most things I haul are low enough to go under anyway. Taller items I use my utility trailer. You also have to close the tailgate first before closing the cover so the seal can cover the tailgate. Better then the Pace Edwards Jackrabbit retractable I had on one of my previous trucks.

I think I'm going with the VP. I like the fact it can be opened and locked down in sections . Was quoted $750 installed . I think this is reasonable because they seem to be around $700. I wonder if it'll be 4 sections for a 6.5 foot bed .

Undercover Flex may be another one to check out. In fact someone posted awhile back that Undercover bought out Bak. Don't know if they merged or what but they seem to have some popular bed cover's. Wife ordered mine online and had it shipped to the house for $728 buck's. I installed it myself in about 30 minutes. The Bak VP is exactly what I wanted in the look's dept. but how long it will last is another story. Glad I had it on my trip to Texas last week!

Should be 4 sections yes. How much are they charging to install it? The VP literally takes 15 minutes to install and that's if you DON'T know what you are doing. Don't let them make it seem like they are selling you the cover for cheap, only to make it up on installation costs.

Aside from the leaks everywhere, the only complaint I really had about the VP was having to open the tailgate to open the cover and had to have the cover popped open to close the tailgate. This was a pain at times depending on what you were doing and how you were loading things up. Other than that, the design and fit was nice. The service after the sale was god awful, but hopefully you won't have any issues to have to call them about.

Best of luck w/ your new cover
