I have been waiting for years for Apple to support MAP (Message Access Profile) to be able to view text messages on my supported devices. They claim to include this in IOS 6, which I just upgraded my Iphone 4s to.

I went in my 2013 F150 tonight and I no longer get the message "this phone doesn't support messaging over blue tooth" or something along those lines. That was a good sign BUT no incoming text messages showed up and when I tried to send a text it just said message send failed or something like that. So, I have access now to a bunch of buttons I could never see before but still cant get anything to work.

Anyone have any info on this? I know this subject has been beaten to death but I thought all we were waiting on was Apple to support this and they now say they do.

Note: To even get this far I had to unpair my Iphone then re-pair it. As soon as I paired it back up you have to hit the right arrow next to the paired sync device on the Iphone. On that screen you have to move the slider to ON where it says "Show Notifications" .

Message notifications must be ON in the sync phone menu.
MAP Profile must be ON in System setting ADVANCED in sync menu.

Texts must be able to show up in locked screen on iphone.
In the iphone under... Settings/Notication Center/ Messages/ Show in lock screen must be on.
Sync will only notify you when one comes in if iphone screen is locked.

Mine stopped for a few weeks after I turned the setting off. Now it works again.

I've been wrestling with this for a year now and still haven't gotten text messages to pop up in my truck. I've given up.

there is a thread on here somewhere that gives very detailed instructions on how to uninstall and reinstall your phones pairing and gain txt support.

It's lengthy but people say it works.
