'10 FX4 Screw IS SLOW!!! HELP!!!
So my 2010 FX4 has the SCT tuner with the 87 preloaded tune installed. I have no mods aside from the SCT engine wise but will be adding a CAI and catback.
This truck is slow. I came from a GM 6.0 Vortec which would have smoked this truck. Take off is like a dog, from 1st to 2nd, RPM's drop and power dives again, 2nd to 3rd, same thing but not as bad, then over 50mph or so it finally gets moving.
Anyone else come from GM to find the Ford to be A LOT slower on acceleration?
What can I do aside from a custom tune?
Is the 93 preloaded SCT much better than the 87?
I see no reason that this engine (5.4) shouldn't tear *** when floored. Why is it so restricted?
Also, 2.5" stock exhaust, some aftermarket kits keep it at 2.5" some jump to 3". 3" seems like the right size, why is the stock exhaust only 2.5"
Am I giving the exhaust flow too much thought or is it really a big negative on these trucks?
Thanks for the input. Sorry for the rant.
All help is appreciated.

¡Ay, caramba!
I want to see videos of this.
I'm pretty sure I could take my buddy's 2010 6.2... up to about 30 mph or so... I expect I'd see his tail lights by the time things really got going... on that private air strip.

I had a 5.4 and it was pretty quick, though not like the 5.0 or eco.

Get a cat back, CAI, and a custom 93 octane tune from a reputable tuner (still wont compare to the new motors). I had a 10 5.4 up to a few days ago and it was a dog compared to my new 5.0.

I would go with 5* tunes. The caned tunes are probably de-fueling on shifts to protect the drivetrain. You won't get any big gains from a cold air intake or exhaust. a 2.5 diam. exhaust is good for 300rwhp so anything bigger is not going to be a big gain. A free flow muffler may help a slight bit.

Damn. Sounds like there isn't much hope. Yes, the GM 6.2 and even older 6.0's are rockets in the 1500's. My 03 or 05 Sierra Denali would rip the pants off this Ford. It's a shame because I love everything else about this truck. I just can't get over the no go when I push go!
Custom tunes are a pain in the *** because I have to give the tuner so much detail. Why can't I just say, give me a hot tune that will unleash all this motor has to offer? Tuner guys say they need more detail. Sorry, I just don't know how I want spark and timing and whatever else adjusted.
Anyway, I hate to go trade this in already for a newer one but I don't know how long I'll be able to deal with this no go.
Man this is frustrating.
