Default Interior lighting question

Ok, so this past weekend while camping, I pulled my truck up next to everyone and opened up the doors to play some music. (Truck is 14 supercab)I had the truck off, key in the (accessory mode?) so radio works. My delema was that the interior lights never shut off nor could I find a way to turn them off. On my car or older truck the lights would stay on for a minute or so then shut off. Is there something im missing or do the lights stay on no matter what if the doors are open??

Only option you have is to pay your dealer to enable Dark Mode! Dark Mode, disables all imterior lights all the time. Its basically only used by police, but our trucks have no option to shut off the interior lights.

Pretty dumb.... yup, but some genius at Ford, thought it was a brilliant idea!

you can shut the lights off by taking a long handle screwdriver and imitating the door striker at your door latch, you are basically closing the latch but keeping your door open, just make sure u pull outside handle before you close door to release latch, remember your latch has a int door light and courtesy light switch built into it.

Agreed, I don't understand why you just can't keep the interior lights off like we used to be able to do on older vehicles

There's plenty of threads on how to tap into the courtesy lighting, why not cut the wire and add a switch?

Default Interior lighting question

I also found out recently that once you turn off your truck and take the key out, you can turn on the radio to listen with the doors open. Might help you out
