Default Installing Power Folding Mirrors on 2012 F150 Lariat

Has anyone tried installing power folding mirrors on a 2012 F150 Lariat. Is the wiring harness already set up for that? We have purchased the drivers side mirror and are trying to install it for that side only. Do we need to install both sides in order for it to operate properly? Any information would be appreciated.

If your Lariat doesn't have the Lariat Plus option, then you don't have power fold mirrors.

And even if you installed the power fold mirrors, they probably wouldn't work without a lot of electrical wiring.

The mirrors will simply bolt onto the same place the stock mirrors were unbolted from, and the wiring harness will simply plug into the new mirrors with no problem. But probably they will have the same function as the stock mirrors. They won't have power fold unless you add wiring to the mirror wiring harness that will activate that function, and replace the mirror control swith on the door with the one for the power fold mirrors.

One way to check is to compare the electrical plug on the pickup to the electrical plug on the new mirror. If they don't have exactly the same number of pins in exactly the same place, then the power fold function is not going to work, even with the power fold control added to the door switch.

I went the other way. I replaced my Lariat Plus memory power fold automatic dimming mirrors with trailer tow mirrors that did not have the memory, power fold or automatic dimming built in. The wiring harness plugged in just fine, and the heated blinking and power mirror functions all work just fine. But the plugs for the memory, power fold, and automatic dimming functions were not in the plug on the tow mirrors, so those functions don't work.

poor, easy??? I cant even follow your instructions, thats not even easy.. I was told by dealer the same as posted above, each truck is pre-wired for the functions, you can swap out mirror to mirror as long as it is wired to do the same functions you want from your new mirrors. If not you got to run new harness to add the extra functions.

Yes, it is this easy! I don't remember the pin numbers but this sounds right.
