I have a 2010 Lariat SuperCrew and my passenger mirror got wailed off by a snowplow this winter. My current stock mirrors are the heated, signal, powered mirrors (power tilt and turn only) and I want power fold and puddle. I bought a set from Josh at Tasca, heated, signal, powered, power fold and puddle lamp; both sides. I also got the new switch that I need to control the manual power fold option and a relay for it. I'm not a mechanic but fairly mechanical (own several 60's Mopars, you need to be mechanical). I'm going to try and document my changeover but will need some help from anyone of you that have either done this or know how to.

I'm just getting started on this. I bought a paint kit on ebay; base, color and clearcoat for the mirror caps (mine are U6 red) for $77, got touch-ups of color and clear too. I also bought a factory manual on CD on ebay for $15.
I plan to take pictures of the removal and installation of the new mirrors but just getting going here.

My first question for you guys is painting the caps. I think when painting plastic, aren't we supposed to wash or clean it with something first just to make the paint stick?

Here's a slide of removing the glass to get to the motor frame which needs to be removed to snap the caps off and another to remove the cap.

I'm going to follow-up myself with an additional question. The switch is slightly different from my current one as it also controls the power fold. I got a relay for it. Does anyone know where the relay goes? Where it plugs in? I have wiring diagrams on the workshop manual but I honestly don't know how to read a wiring diagram.

I am also interested in adding power fold mirrors to my 2010 F150. What did you end of having to pay for the mirrors and switch? Good luck and look forward to seeing the progress.

I have the same (non puddle/fold) mirrors on my FX4 and my driver's side mirror got bit in a car wash. Everything's good except a hunk of plastic on the main housing chipped off on the outer most part.

I hate to replace the whole mirror assembly ($$$) and I've been wondering if I picked up a used/junked "plain" mirror with a good main housing, if I could regut it with the inerds from my mirror? i.e. I wonder if all of the mirror housings are molded the same? Anyone know?

By the way, you're conversion to puddle and power fold sounds interesting. What did you have to pay for the new mirrors?

I thought that they didnt make power fold for f150?

On no, their OEM on the Platinum, I test drove one before buying my Lariat. They're an option on the Harley too, I've been doing some homework!
From my sales slip:

I'm also hoping to test out an LED replacement against the original in the puddle lamp and go with the brighter, also thinking an off-white yellowish or blue led lamp might be nicer and illuminate better. Plus I'm going to look at brighter led's for the wimpy signals in the mirrors.

I want to try to add the power fold mirrors to my 2010 XLT also...I was just looking at a thread over on the raptor forum, where someone added them ...he ran some new wires so he didnt have to reflash anything, and they work fine.... Nice write up with some pics...

I just did this convesion this weekend on my '10 FX4 - 1st I found the write on the how to in another forum the writer had a 09 raptor and added it to his. I ordered the parts from Joshua at tasca and got slightly different parts than the poster on the other forum. He also stated I required the relay. In reality you do not, and I nexed the the relay also. This only changes the memory setting in the DSM but was fine with me vecause I fold them in the get in the garage I don't want it to unfold when I start it up. I can provide all the pin-outs for the harnesses if you like and step by step instructions. Really the most difficult part is getting the wiring across the vehicle from passenger side to driver door.

My parts were different in that they do not come with the front orange reflectors on the mirror which was great with me my truck is black and wanted to black them out any way. Also got the relay, it is an accessory relay in the SJB that connects to the DSM to add the PF functions. As I said I nixed it and so did the poster on the RAptor details.
