Truck is otherwise completely stock from engine on back. Flowmaster was simply substituted for stock muffler, then a tip was added, but the tip has slightly smaller diameter at weld, so muffler shop welded in a short (less than a foot) of this slightly smaller diameter straight pipe, then welded tip to that- tip is overall slightly larger diameter than factory pipe, but smaller at weld only. No negative affects on actual performance, but clearly something is causing CEL to come on. Came on within first ten miles, went off about two days later, then stayed on ever since. Any experience or suggestions with this!?

Have you had the code read?? Not to be frank but that would be the first step with any check engine light. Might not even be exhaust related. But just from the little info you gave I would say maybe a damaged o2 sensor or may a damaged cat.
