Installed 4 channel amp on factory head unit and speakers
#41
I went back and rewired my sub with a LOC and the Pop noise went away. It is a Pioneer amp and it came with the speaker level to RCA cable. What a disappointment it is with that connected. With the LOC it sounds cleaner and is also a bit louder. Now the last step is to see if I can cut back on the slight hiss at low volume. It's really not that bad but I am very critical when it comes to sound. Question to all that have installed the KTP-445u. Do you notice a slight hiss at low volumes? Just curious to see if I'm wasting my time trying to completely remove it. It is unnoticeable after you turn it up.

Try turning the gains down on the loc a slight bit or on the amp a slight bit. You can also try a ground loop isolator but check your grounds and if possible try a different one. I don't know how you mounted the amp, but screwing it into metal or against metal can also cause a hiss in some cases.

I have read MANY nice reviews on the Infinity Kappa series($179.99) and the Alpine Type-R($199.99) 6x8's. Both are 2 way's and have read they excel highly when hooked to a aftermarket amp such as a Alpine 4 channel.
I couldn't afford those but bought the Infinity REF-8602cfx speakers. Since Crutchfield had them on sale for $103.99/PR with free wire connections normally $129.99/PR with no freebies.

Nayriles, I have a 2009 XLT with SYNC. All I need to hook this amp up is the amp and two harnesses? Anything else I need to purchase along with it? Also, how hard is it to remove the dash to get behind the head unit?
