Default Pilot 5" stubby from PEP Boys ANT029B

My $10 dollar auto zone turned bronze too, so I took it back for a refund. I found this black aluminum 5" stubby at pep boys for $14.99+tax. It comes with adapters and spacers. I had to use a spacer or cut the threads on the stud, so I used the spacer. You can get this in a 3" if you want real short, I don't. It picks up very good and the quality is very good, looks powdered coated, not sure. Spacer goes on the bottom.

Default Antenna

I have a cheap sears powder coating kit and it works great. I've powder coated several parts with it. I powder coated my AutoZone antenna because of the bronzing issue. It takes 20 minutes at 400 degrees just fine. No problem

So quick update. Yes mine turned bronze after a couple months. I plasti dipped it and now that's peeling too. So in conclusion RES4CUE was right all along and I should've spent the coin for a Craven Speed.

Lol, I should take a pic of my craven speed. Still looks pretty good after all this time.

At least you were brave enough to try it, I'm sketched out trying stuff. Lol

Same here! Have had mine on my truck for well over a year now in the Alabama heat and sun and it still looks like it did the day I put it on the truck.

4 months later and my paint job is still holding up fine. All in for the $9 antenna and about a nickel worth of paint, at most.
