Default Couple of PTM questions for you experienced guys...

Ok where to start...I have a 10 XLT and I'm interested in swapping the grille out for the 6 bar chrome grille with a PTM surround. Does the surrounding detach from the rest of the grille or is it all one piece? Is the "chrome" surround able to be painted and still be durable or should I use a PTM surround from the start? Will a PTM surround from an FX style grille attach to the 6 bar chrome grille? I have an FX grille collecting dust in the garage, but I think I want to use a chrome center section because I will be keeping chrome bumpers and wheels on the truck for awhile. If anyone can help me out, I would really appreciate it. I don't want to start cutting things up without knowing 100% what I'm doing...

Also, will paint stick to the mirror caps, door and tailgate handles without too much trouble? I don't want anything to start flaking later...

6 bar chrome grilles are all 1 piece. The 2 piece are the PTM/black ones.

You can paint the chrome surround many people on here have done it. I have a chrome paint *how to* in the paint and body section.

Many people have done this as well. I'll look for the thread that member tko_818 did. "painted door handles the easy way."
