Are you hand calculating that? Seems high for a truck with 35s

Short trips are the biggest reason for fuel dilution. Most people don't know that it take oil up to three times longer to get to operating temps vs coolant.

Can this be an issue with the 5.0 as well? I bought mine used 3 months ago. The dealership had recently changed oil prior to me buying it. At 1st I was VERY pleased with the fuel mileage, but noted about 1.5-2mpg less recently. I changed my oil last week at 6000 miles. It is too early for me to say for sure, I haven't driven it far enough to get a true idea, but it appears to be back to the original fuel mileage.

I was thinking it was either the fuel I was getting or my driving style. But reading this thread has me wondering.

Ohh yea with tires that add 40 lbs more each of unsprung weight each, that kill aero. Imagine I could get 25 mpg if I go to 37's.

99% of us can't get that kind of mileage, true mileage, if we were idling downhill in neutral with 50mph tail wind. There's always someone that pulls out the amazing feat.

If someone wants to believe that changing the oil is is worth 5 mpg or more, more power to them.

No kidding!

Did I mention my 12V Cummins with a Super Bully Edge Tuner and riding on 38s is getting about 34 mpg highway?

Well came across this old thread after doing an oil and sparkplug change on my 13 3.5. I also cleaned the 3 mafs and the throttle body (wasnt real dirty). I have seen my mpgs raise by 5+ since. So perhaps it is possible.
