Used 2011 F150 FX4 SCREW
I am looking at a used 2011 F150 FX4 SCREW 5.0 16k miles with the following options:
Leather
Tow
Rear Cam
36 gallon tank
remote start
bedliner
tailgate step
Dual auto climate
power sliding rear window
20in wheels
power heated seats
This truck is at a ford dealer for 31500, which is 500 above kbb trade in value and 2K under private party value.. Carfax checks out fine and indicates its a 1 owner truck purchased in january 2012.
I went to look at the truck in person yesterday and I could not find a flaw anywhere. Not a rock chip on the front end, no dings not even a tiny scratch anywhere. The interior was just like new and still had the new car smell.
My issue is i feel like im missing something. Ive never personally seen a truck with 16K on it not have 1 blemish at least a rock chip somewhere on the front end or hood. Other trucks equipped similarly with double the miles in my area are listed 5-6K more. Why is this truck so much cheaper in this great of condition. I also noticed from car fax this truck has been on the lot for 2 months now. How come it hasn't moved? Also its a little odd that someone would trade this truck in after 15 months and 16K miles of owning it...
My last 3 vehicles have been new so buying used I am a little skeptic but this truck has everything im looking for and will save me about 9K if i were to buy it new.
Is there anything else i should check? Any issues with the 2011 that should look for? Carfax also indicates the only ford service done was oil changes and a battery replacement. Im suspecting the battery was bad because the truck was at the dealer new from June 2011 until january 2012.
Thanks!!
Gregg

You can buy a brand new one with more options for $5k more.
Request a brochure on the ford website to get a coupon.

I traded in my '11 lariat with 18k miles on it. Nothing wrong with it, spotless too. Just wanted a Platinum. The dealer didn't give me a great deal on the trade, and I'm sure he didn't lose money on the '13 that i did buy (i thought it was a "good" deal),so he probably doesn't have to make a bunch more to get a profit.

My current '10 STX was bought with the same mileage, 16k ish. Bought for about $20-21k and change (i forget the actual price now, its been 2 years) It also had no chips, dings, etc. Smelled new and everything. I was skeptical too. It was at a Toyota dealership. And they "needed it off the lot." Only thing i had heard was the previous owner traded it in for a Tacoma, because of mpg's. I don't know how true that is though. Even now, at 37k miles have less than 10 rock chips, and 1 dent from a branch (very small), just lucky i guess.

I bought mine from the place I posted the link to. You'll get that price and if you're in the military or college it's another $500 on top of that. I got the military rebate on top of the price and the coupons from Ford have ranged from $750-2K off. I received another $750 a few days ago. The price listed is with the rebates, but they'll make it work because they want to sell it.

Greg, don't overthink. It's not unusual for someone to buy, and then decide that they really don't need the vehicle any longer. At 16k miles, and the condition it's in shows the owner took care of the truck. If you are nervous about the truck, you can always look into a Ford extended warranty. That may relieve your mind a bit. As far as the truck being on the lot for 2 months, it's a lot of truck. Sometimes it takes the right buyer (like you) to come along. Good luck.
BTW, I was like waterboyjlw. I owned a 2011 XLT w/18K miles, and traded it for a Platinum. Which is the truck I should have bought in the first place. The XLT didn't have one blemish. There are a number of reasons folks trade vehicles.
