If you just add the switch to the transfer case control module, this will also turn off the t/c and abs?

What I did was run a wire from the positive side of the battery into the cab. That wire connects to a on-off switch. A wire comes from the other side of the switch to a 5 amp fuse. Then from the fuse I ran the wire that splices into the one that goes back to the diff. If you look under the passenger footwell you will find the transfer case control module. On the module is two harnesses, black and brown. Unplug the black one, and find the brown wire with a purple stripe. This is the wire that sends 12v power back to the diff. Snip that wire. Now attach a diode to the side that's still connected to the harness. Then take your wire from your switch and connect it to the brown/purple wire that connects to the diff. Now connect the diode into the diff wire as well. This will make a Y connection. One end runs to the TCCM through the diode, the other to your on-off switch, and the other runs to your diff.
By using the diode this mod allows you to still use diff lock in stock form. Or use diff lock at will by using your switch. The diode just protects the TCCM from electrical current back-feeding when your switch is turned on.

This seems like a nice mod, but if the wire between battery and cab becomes damaged and shorted then unhappiness will rule! I would move the fuse as close to the battery as possible.

Heres a prime reason why you need to have the diff locked and TC out of the way.
To keep the truck sideways at 60MPH.

You can see the switches I have installed.

Any ideas on how to perform a similar mod for the disabling of TC without losing ABS?

Only way I can see it working is if the ABS is self-contained apart from the TC. But I have a feeling it's all part of one module, hence why it's on the same fuse. I could be wrong though, I never had enough time to search into it and find out. Someone with an electrical manual for these pickups may be able to find out though. It would be great if we could as ABS is pretty helpful.

nicwiens, did you ever get a chance to take those pics of what you did?

I really need a visual to tackle this mod. Thanks

anyone check manuals yet to see if ABS can be isolated? I'm reading this thread at work and constantly alt+tabbing to avoid the boss seeing what I'm doing. If not, I'll delve into what I can get my hands/internet on

Sorry to revive an old thread but I have a question about something that was brought up here. The two wheel slip that was mentioned to be on even with Advancetrac off, does it make the same traction control sound as regular traction control? Only reason I ask is because this is the first time I have heard of this and have always thought one of my front hubs was going out.

Again sorry if this seems off topic but am curious and if this is the case then I will probably be doing this mod in the near future.
