Default How to really turn traction control off?

So we got a good 12" of snow last night in Kelowna BC, and more to come tonight. I have a 2010 XLT 4x4 screw, with Nokian Hakkapeliitta LT snow tires. The tires are awesome in the snow and I don't have any problem getting around in the snow in 4x4

The main roads they were partly clear so I was running in 2 wheel drive. I wanted to see how well I could do in 2x4, so I turned off the traction control and it seamed like there were times where the traction control would still kick in.

How do you actually turn off the traction control so it will not kick in?

Pull fuses 36 and 47 under the hood. That will take care of the advancetrac and roll control. The actual traction control stays off when you push the button. Its the other 2 items that will come back on after you go over 35. Keep in mind you wont have abs if you pull those fuses

The TCS, You may turn it off, but the moment the truck senses fishtailing, it turns it right back on. You can turn it off but only for spinning your tires and keeping your truck going in a straight line.

Mine turns on at a certain rpm if my tires are just spinning like on ice or something.

like I said its all in the manual. you have to hold the button for 5 seconds to turn it all off, if you just press it once you can spin it all you want as long as you dont fishtail. Its realy three different systems acting as one. We refer to all of them as one "TC" when in fact its Traction Control, Electronic Stability Control, and Roll Stability Control. Its all detailed out in the manual and a good read I suggest everyone read it.

Thanks everyone. I'll pull out my manual and go over the TC section.

Havent tried pulling these fuses, but like some have said if you hold the traction control button down for 5 seconds or so till it flashes on the panel it will shut off the TCS until you exceed 35MPH. unfortunately the RSC will still kick in. The only way ive heard of to shut them both off completely is to use 4x4 low range. Will have to try pulling these fuses and see what happens. Not many people can go out and slide around in 4x4 and still maintain control. I have become pretty proficient at it after some practice but wouldnt recommend any novices try it unless in a wide open area with no traffic, its way more difficult than sliding around in 2 wheel drive mode.
