I know, I know..... just looked, owners manual says check every month.

Lots of good information in that little book.

"If the oil level is between the lower and upper holes or between the MIN
and MAX marks (depending on application), the oil level is acceptable.
DO NOT ADD OIL."

BTW, just to be clear, the oil level was at the MIN mark, I filled it back up to the MAX as I have with all my vehicles. At this rate, it's a good thing I keep the oil at the MAX... what do they mean "DO NOT ADD OIL".

We ever get ourselves one of those Zombie type apocalyptico thingamagiggies, you know, and not with those slow bastards, but with those quick buggers with some real get up and go to em??? Yeah well if we ever get one of those you're gunna need to make friends with this guy 'cause he's the type who's gunna have his bases covered, cool, calm, collected, geterdone kinda feller.

Personally, I guess I check her 'bout once a month, but then again I'm one of those guys what likes to get my grabbers on things, just ask my wife. Lucky with the new truck, she doesn't seem to sip any oil atall, but the 5.4l I had previously would torch a good litre every 3000 Canadistany Miles.

Jesus! I like smart people like this feller!

amount of oil consumption is on an engine by engine basis (like each individual engine). But a specific motor may be more prone to oil consumption than others. I check mine about every 2 weeks (sometimes sooner). I also tend to change my oil based on the color of it more than believing the computer. If its darker than honey I would eat then its time to change it LOL.

This ^^^^

Constantly amazed at the people that spend $40, $50, $60,000+ on a vehicle and don't read the freakin' manual.

I check all my vehicles once a month. All fluid levels and tires. I've spotted antifreeze leaks, other fluid leaks, and tires with nails that aren't down to the warning level but 1 tire is lower than the other 3 by a few pounds.

Checking every fill is great - but I need a step ladder to check my F-150's oil, and Costco ALWAYS has a line. Plus I use a tank a month or more, so checking monthly is often more frequent than at a fill. 36 gallon tank is great!

I guess the next thing would be to install an "oil level gauge". That way we could have a constant view of an important fluid level. Let's invent one. Or is there such a thing already. I could see a problem while in motion with all the oil pumping all over in the engine trying to determine a specific level.

WOW. I WISH I could use only a tank a month! I fill up every week, and sometimes twice a week depending on work. I do have the smaller tank, but even the 36 gallon wouldn't get me much more than 1.5 weeks.

I bought my truck Feb 1 and it had 3/4 tank in it. I filled it for the 4th time (after running down that 3/4 tank) yesterday, and I was gone for almost a week in that time.

LOL!

It's an "occupational hazard" for me. I'm military and fly helicopter Search and Rescue.

You cover as many of your bases as you can or you literally get dead....in a hurry.

It's an ethos that kinda carries over into the rest of my life.....

Not sure what I would do with a fast moving zombie though......or a slow one for that matter!
