Default How much below MSRP?

Im getting ready to sale or trade in my 05 f150 for a 2010 or 2011. The trucks im looking at are in the 43-46k range, how much should i offer to get things started. How much below msrp did yall offer to start negotiating? This is the first time ive really had to negotiate a price, I used to have a friend at a dealership so I got pretty good prices and never had to haggle, he's no longer there so I have to haggle for the first time. Just wondering.

Ask to see invoice if its an '10. You gotta little more room to bargin on an '10.. There are several sites on the net, such as edmunds.com, kbb.com, truecar.com, and few others you can use to get an idea.

Do a google search for "Ford invoice pricing".

Keep in mind the rebates and incentives available for your model if you're considering an '10!

$4,500 / $5,500 depending on the model.

The model determines some of the rebates... but the local dealerships are saying 12,500 off of 2010 XLTs (that they have in stock) which includes $1000 credits for financing with Ford Motor Credit and trading in a car newer than a '95. I called and if they brought one in it would be 11,500 off... Wasn't comfortable with the sales folks and I went to a different dealer that had to locate one for me. I ended up with $10,400 off window sticker (12/31), and they switch BFG AT/KO's in for the basic Goodyear that came on it without an upcharge. The dealership that had it originally had added a bedliner and the interior/exterior "scotch guard" type package, but the folks I bought it from didn't care, or try to upcharge for those items like usual.

My buddy went to the dealership offering 12,500 off of the XLTs and got 10,500 off of a 2010 Lariat 4x2 on 1/5/2011.

Both great deals... good luck!
