Default How Long Did Your OEM Battery Last?

My 2013 EB FX4 has about 33k miles, and it seems a bit more sluggish than normal when cranking over the engine (especially on a cold morning or evening). I feel like I need to go get the battery tested soon since I don't want it leaving me stranded.

That being said, how long did your OEM battery last? 2.5 years seems to be a bit premature for battery failure in my experience...heck, the battery in my wife's 4Runner lasted about 3.5 years (just replaced it a couple weeks ago) and I thought that was a bit early too. I don't buy the notion that batteries are of lesser quality than they were years ago, but I suppose the increased electrical loads on newer vehicles may have something to do with it.

Probably going to replace it with an Oreilly Auto Super Start Platinum, which is just a rebadged East Penn - Deka Intimidator... seems to be a good bang for the buck on a US built AGM battery, and will be easy to find a store to swap it out it if the need arises.

I have the original battery still, 3 full years and going strong. I live in AZ and they go fast. I suspect one day this year, all I'll get is a click.

Battery longevity depends on a ton of things.

1. Climate
2. Driving habits
3. Vehicle accessories
4. Electrical system health
5. Sometimes, luck of the draw
6. Battery make, type

I had a napa gold battery in my 97 corolla that I replaced last year. It was installed in 01, thats 14 years old. That was a LONG life for a battery. I got lucky.

Got my 2013 in April of 13. OEM battery died on a cold night early this past November. Said screw it and put a XS Power AGM battery in. So 2.5 years for me. Currently have around 42,000 miles on it.

I have owned my 2011 for 4 years and 23k miles. I tested it about 6 months ago when I cleaned the corroded positive terminal connection and it was still good as new.

The best luck I've ever had was on the oem battery in my 1999 Camaro SS that lasted just over 7 years. Battery was actually still good except for the negative post broke when I went to remove the battery for some other maintenance.

My 2013 SCREW still has the OEM battery in it. At least as far as I know. I'm the 2nd owner. Still strong as every. My wife's OEM battery in the Fusion lasted 6 years which is pushing it for a battery. Tothemax has it correct, there are a ton of variables out there in regards to batteries. Generally with Lead acid batteries a few deep discharges and the life of the battery goes away very fast. On your average DD I generally expect 4-6 years out of a battery, at least that's how it's always been for me out here in the Midwest. I've had cheaper batteries survive as little as a year. But that being said, any Optima batteries I've had, I still have. I have a red top and yellow top AGM still going strong after 10 years. A quality AGM will typically last much longer.
