Can you provide some daytime photos of how the lights look in the bumper? Thanks! Great install!

More lighting is great I guess but I find it difficult to get a good rear field of vision not for the lack of lighting. I just can't see directly behind the truck. I guess I should have gotten a rear-view camera on my new truck.

Thanks to the OP for thread, I originally bought the same lights as he did, but changed my mind at the last minute and bought the Warrior Products 2" LED Reverse Light Kit that's designed for jeeps. I tapped into the reverse wire on the trailer harness.

I mainly installed the lights for my reverse camera setup. Before having these, I couldn't see anything behind me with the factory reverse lights. Where the LED's are in the bumper, they provide a great reference on my screen where my bumper is, as well as illuminating everything behind me.

I'll try and get a picture of what they look like in the dark, as well as what my screen looks like with the reverse camera image on it.

Here's what the LED's look like installed. At some point, I'm going to modify the rubber housing / grommets so the lights are more flush with the bevel instead of protruding about 3/8". Thanks again to the OP for the idea!

very nice write up but could these be wired into the trailer connector or even the reverse wires going to the tail lights? I am considering this too, but have backup sensors and worried if there is enough room.

I tapped into the reverse wire to the trailer connector. It was the closest location, and the most logical choice. That, and I couldn't figure out how to easily remove my taillight! I think you should be fine tapping into the reverse wire to the trailer connector. I don't have the reverse sensors, but I think there should be enough room. You're biggest problem might be the location and style of lights that you install because of the position of the sensors.

Have you thought about moving the sensors lower? And installing the lights where the sensors are located now?

I went to my local auto parts store and a back up light kit. It was like 40 bucks and installed in like 20 minutes. It installs around your hitch. You tap into your reverse light wire in your taillight and ground it to your truck somewhere. It has a switch for always on or only comes on when your in reverse. Really easy and much brighter

This is what I was thinking while I was reading this.
It seems like the OP went through a lot of trouble, and is putting up with the worry of excess heat, when there are safer/cleaner installations readily available.
