If you would like to listen to the radio with the drivers door open without the chime, all you need to do is use a Bic ballpoint pin and close the latch on the door like the door was closed. When you get through just pull on the handle and the latch will open again before closing the door.

If I need more then an hour, I just go back in and press the power button again.

I used to do that, then I accidentally discovered the 1hr mode on the Radio. Now, I just take the key out of the ignition, leave the door open and press the radio power button. Radio comes on and voila, tunes, no chime for one whole hour and no more broken pens (I kept forgetting to take the pen out)

Sure would be nice to know what voltage the chime uses then get a LED lamp installed in the dash that would flash instead of the chime going off. You then would have a blinking LED!
