Interesting stuff, this VIN look-up topic...
I got the VIN today on ordered (sig) truck which sales guy told me last week was built on 27May and was waiting on a rail car for westbound train. So, I used this thread to help me get confirmation that it was built 'zactly as I specified.
First, I went to the etis.ford.com site mentioned in post #5 which oddly stated that my truck was built: 03.06.2014. Um, I don't think so...
Next, I went to the site link included in post #42 and pasted my VIN which then brought up my Window Sticker which showed that the complete ordered config was correct. Hooray! I downloaded that to my 'puter for future reference and posterity. Ain't using the internet grand?
At bottom of window sticker (in box under Special Order) shows: 05 27 14. If I'm interpreting this data right, the etis.ford.com site is actually in Euro date code format, i.e., 03.06.14 = 3Jun14 - not USA format = 6Mar14 as some of you have posted. Further, it was mentioned that invoice date generally precedes build date by one full week. If that's true, my truck was actually built 3Jun14 (2 days ago) not 27May14 as sales guy stated. OTOH, if build date instead precedes invoice date by one full week, my truck was built 27May14 as I was told. As to the "Monday or Friday" build date superstition; if mine was built Tuesday 27May14, that was the 1st work day after Memorial Day Monday which was sorta made that Tuesday like a Monday. In any case, I'm not gonna worry about it...

I used this:
http://www.etis.ford.com/vehicleRegSelector.do
Click on Vehicle Tab and enter VIN...
This format is Day-Month-Year
My door jam sticker says 1/11, This page shows "Primary Feature Build Date" as 2/2/11....
Hope this helps.

It's sort of funny, was talking with the sales guy and told him I would like to look at the truck when it came in. Was showing as dealer ordered, and he said it could be up to several weeks. An hour later he called me and said it had just come in. Told him not to bother with usual prep and I would drive out to see it. Signed the papers and drove it home. It was on the lot maybe 5 hours total.
I keep my vehicles for a long time, and wanted a recent one to do proper preparation on the undercarriage. CorrosionX, rtv on bolt threads and so on.
I had taken underside pictures of another FX4 at a different dealer which had a 12/13 build date, so had a good idea of where rust starts just from sitting on a lot, so those places will get extra attention. The rust was very minor, but did show where it can start. Scratch tests on metal corrosion test coupons always show rust growing from the scratch.
Surface prep is key for any treatment, so finding a unit just off the truck was fantastic.
Spent a whole day underneath with rtv (clear and red for exhaust stuff) and will spend another with CorrosionX and hi-temp paint) Pennsylvania roads and salt are really hard on vehicles.
So far I've spent more time underneath the truck than in it, lol.

I just took delivery of my 14 Crew on 9-2-14. I asked the sales lady how long it had been on the lot and she said not very long. I looked at the door tag and the build date said 8/14 so it was real recent. I found this thread and went to the etis mentioned earlier. I didn't have the vin handy so I ran out to the truck to get the window sticker, maual, etc. I found the build sheet in the glove box. I thought that was pretty neat and put the vin in etis and everything corresponds with the build sheet. Build sheet and etis both say the build date was 8-15-14 (which was a Friday). Its amazing what you can find on the net!!
