Question Hot start

I have a 2000 F150 w/ a 6 cyl 4.9. It has 174k miles. After driving 50 miles on the highway, it would not start. Nothing, the dash lights come on, but no turn over or alt clicking. AAA and my mechneck said it was the starter. It did crank after a 4 hour cool down. The starter was replaced, along with complete servicing and tune-up. This morning, fine. Starts right up, but after driving the same 50 miles, it would not start again. I let it cool down for 4 hours and still nothing. My mechneck thinks it might be in the ignition, but wont know till I can get it back to his shop. Any thoughts?

I would check the solenoid next. See if you are getting 12 volts to the small terminal when the key is turned all the way to start.

Thumbs up Hot start

Thanks for the tip. I took it back to my mechneck and that's what it was. The upper solenoid. The best part, he didn't charge me any thing to fix it.
