Default Hope I don't regret this decision...

After 30k miles my stock Pirellis are FINALLY ready to be replaced. God I hated those tires.

After much research I've decided on Cooper ATPs in the 275/60/20 size from Discount Tire Direct at $177 each - which seems like a great deal compared most every other "larger size" tire I was looking at (all of them being over $300 each). Should be here on Wednesday or Thursday.

I ordered a 2.5" Motofab level for $51 and replacement 3" rear blocks and u-bolts for $75 from Ebay which should arrive next Monday.

Here's where it's interesting. My regular mechanic told me "around 400" to install the level and blocks, my local Ford dealer told "about 600" to install them - but I found another good local mechanic that said he would charge $170 for the install.

New tires should be on this Friday and hopefully next week the level will be on and it'll be realigned. I just hope I don't regret the lift without going with even larger tires - but at $177 each I think I can live with them even if they still look too small. There's always next time around for 35s I guess.

I'll try to post pics throughout the transformation. Thanks to this forum for all the helpful info and pics of other rigs etc!

By then it will be time to trade the truck in.

I kinda doubt it. The wife is next on the new car list in about 5 months (she has a 2008 Toyota Sienna with almost 70k miles) and we've already decided only 1 vehicle payment at a time.

Plus she thinks she wants a Lexus NX now that our boys are almost past "flinging the car doors into other cars parked nearby" age - so that's gonna be a chunk of change. I'm honestly gonna miss the minivan.

Have the exact tire on my 13 FX4. You will not regret it, they look nice and are quiet on road.

and BTW, you will love the NX, test drove one when they first came out. Did not get it, but was on the short list. Good power out of that little turbo....

they are not very good, and it is more of an illusion that it does not look level. It is. Rancho quick lift with 9000's in the rear...

Hi Bill, my wife and I looked extensively at the Lexus vehicles, please take long....test rides to be certain you are comfortable with the ride! That's an expensive mistake to make so be certain. My wife decided on a certified low mileage preowned RX, more comfortable, more room and looked on drove like brand new. Note ours was a one owner, not a dealer loaner, that makes big difference. You were concerned about tire costs, when you mentioned Lexus I had to chime in. Good luck with your tires and her new car. Dave

Have the ATP's on my 97 F150 and love them. So much so that if they made em in the size I needed for my 14, they would be on it too.
