Default Home made under seat storage.

I've seen a few guys who have made these storage boxes for the rear seats. I'm planning on making one as well but wanted to hear from you guys first. I have a 2013 scab xlt.

1. Did you make it with a back, or just the front 3 sides?
2. Did you make dividers or just one big box?
3. How did you attach it to the truck?
4. What materials did you use?

Pics would be appreciated.

1. No I did not make it with a back. Looking back on it now I would because items slide back and get caught under the seat. You can see the buggy cord on a socket set for that very reason.
2. Just one big box
3. I drilled 2 holes in the metal seat frame and mounted it with SS screws into the wood.
4. Birch plywood, water based primer and paint, Wood glue, 1.25" SS screws, PC Woody, .25" round off router bit, standard twist drill bit, and a forstner bit.
5. To make it fit the hump correctly I took a piece of cardboard and slowly cut it to fit nicely. Then transferred the lines to a piece of plywood and cut it out with a jigsaw.

This was the best mod to my truck so far. I keep all my school work on one side and tools and ratchet straps on the other side.

I'm going to have to figure out something as my groceries go everywhere on my Supercrew.

That's why you put them in the bed. With a 2x6/8/10 divider dropped in.

You wouldn't be able to fit much under the seat anyway. Keep your longterm storage items under there instead. I have bungee cords, straps and my emergency kit.

On my '13 Supercab I made two separate boxes. No backs, just a u-shape. No hump to cut around. I used 9-ply birch that we use for our cabinet drawers. I covered it in a thin black automotive carpet that matched the factory carpet in the truck.

A couple of screws on either side into the seat frame and it looks factory and holds a lot of junk.

Now I'm trying to figure out a way to put a lock on them like the F-250s have.

Hi,

I just posted this last night in another thread but I'll include them again and try to answer your questions.

1) All sides and bottom
2) 1 big box
3) Used the jack mount bolts through the bottom.
4) Hmm. Scraps. Ends were 3/4" popular, front, side and back were plywood. I think front and back were 1/2" and bottom was 1/4". Used a groove in the sides to hold the bottom. Used biscuit joints to connect the ends. I then wrapped it in automotive carpet glued down with Super 77. Never used the stuff before but I managed to wrap it all except the bottom with a single continous piece. https://www.f150forum.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
5) Hump? What hump? My truck (FX4) doesn't have a hump. I do have the sub woofer so this only goes under the driver side 70% of the seat.

It looks like its *supposed* to be there! That is always a biggie for me, and that looks great!

Good job man. Let us know how it holds up thru the winter.

So lets have a dimensional drawing of the box. Great job there to contain all the crap they stuff under the Scab rear seat.
