Home made "cold" air intake.
Here it is. Gotts mod, K and N drop in, and my home made intake tube. Oh yeah, I removed all the rubber shield crap around the air box. What do you guys think? I got tired of the expensive "cold" air intake kits.

Oh yeah, those silencers or heimholtz filters (mind the spelling) needed to go. I love the sound. Dont ask about any millage increase because I dont monitor that. If I wanted millage, I would not have purchased a 7,000 truck with a 5.4. It sounds bad *** though and it has just a bit more power.

A cold air intake relocates the filter to an area further away from hot areas and hopefully into a direct stream of air... Not that a CAI is going to provide any real HP/TQ gains, and what you did is cool... but if it uses the stock airbox/location it's not really a CAI.
But, regardless - props!

looks clean though; good job!
so what was the overall cost?

Hugh, not cold air??? Have you looked at the inside of one of these air boxes? The box is fed by a tube into the fender. Cold air is channeled from in front of the radiator and behind the bumper up behind the headlight assembly into the fender. There is even a foam block at the back of the fender to stop the air and noise. Can't get better than that unless you attach a tube to the box rout it to the bumper with a scoop. That is unless you believe that a tube with a filter exposed in your hot engine bay is a "cold air intake"
It is stock a cold air intake. This one just does away with the intake mufflers to flow a little better.
