I love this thread. I am on my 3rd. F-150, the first two I put over 215,000 miles on them before they ultimately were 1. Wrecked and 2) wore slap out. My current ride is 2009 with only 64,000 miles on it.
Point the first: All those comments on "its all in" the owners manual. Yes right but sometimes we older guys skim rather than read...lol.
Point the second: Some of the things mentioned don't really click until I see someone else' s pictures or descriptions and dare I say enthusiasm for a "mod" or add on to their ride.

Yeah, that's the only setting I've found so far. My Suburban has several options for when it will auto unlock (and lock, for that matter). It's just really handy when I'm carpooling or dropping the kids at school to have the doors pop open when I put it in park. Oh well, I may have to go through the effort of pushing the unlock button ...

It is just funny how you get used to a simple feature and when it isn't there, it bugs you!

Some habits we catch from previous vehicles and stay with us
Personally, I really like that my kids have to await for "my consent" to open their doors. Either opening my door or pushing the unlock button is a valuable "good thing" when hasty "monkeys" are on the loose on the back

As for your keypad, you can set a new code to it (a few codes actually), but the one set from factory can't be changed (unless some programming is used). You should find your factory code somewhere inside your passenger side fuse box. Do some thread search as I really don't remember where it is. Never needed it.

It's actually much easier if you have both of your keys. Put one in the ignition, turn on. Turn off, take out and put the other key in and turn on. The code should display right on the center screen.

A couple quick questions from a new owner of a used 2011 EB:

1) How do I reset the door keypad? There is what appears to be a 'user' card in the glove box -- has a guy's name on it and the VIN -- but it doesn't have a 5 digit code on it that I can see, which I understand I need to reset the code. Any ideas? Maybe the Ford team will be able to help on this one.

2) auto door unlocking -- on my GMs, I've gotten used to the doors unlocking when I put it in park, which is a nice feature having 4 small kids. Any such setting on the Ford system? If so, where? I found an auto unlock, but it doesn't unlock when I put it in P.
1) I think you need to ask Ford to look up the VIN and give you the master code for your truck. I have the original card with the code on it. It says no matter what you use as a personal code, the master original will always work. You can reset to your code from there.

2) The doors will not unlock when you put it in park. All doors will open once you shut down the engine and open the drivers door. If the engine is running, all but the driver door will remain locked until you hit the unlock button on the door sill or shut down the engine.

I know, I searched forever and thought I would have to pay the dealer then stumbled across that on a forum. Worked like a champ for me but I'm in a 13. Not sure what years it works for.

Works on a '14. Also just to clarify, you don't have to start the vehicle, just turn to the on position. Can't find my other key for the '12 otherwise I'd test it.

Yea, this is correct. I didn't know how to just explain the "on" position. I was so happy when that code popped up.
