Default HID Problem

Hi, I have a 2011 F150 with these head lights http://www.spyderauto.com/product.ph...w-H7-(Included). I also installed an HID kit in them and on start up only one light will turn on. I have a wiring harness and was wondering if there is anything I can do to fix this problem.

Without seeing the vehicle and being able to check things with my meter its hard to say but if you are confident its wired correctly I would suggest making sure your grounds are good solid grounds. The #1 issue I find with troubleshooting problematic HIDs is bad grounds!

I grounded to the battery. What iv read is that on start up there is not enough power to start both hids. If i remote start the truck then get in and turn the lights on they turn on. So i think thats the problem i just dont know how to fix it.

Are you trying to use auto lights?

If so, that is correct. Many have issues because on the cheaper ballasts they draw so much volts on start up that there isn't enough supplied by the truck with all the other systems so you get a false ignite.

Mine had this issue initially when I used auto lights and installed HIDs. I upgraded my ballasts to The new Morimoto XB ballasts and the issue went away but I don't have long term use because after I tried it out I went back to just doing it manually because with auto start I hate having my lights on the whole time.

Try swapping the ballasts and seeing if the problem follows. If you have a good ground and a harness, the likely culprit would be the ballast.

Not sure what bulb type you're running but spend the coin and get some decent ballasts. Theretrofitsource.com has great products.

Thats just the ballasts. Does it seem like a good ballast?

I think so, I've had them for two years and not one issue. These are the ones with better start up voltage so you should be able to use auto lights again.

If it were I, I would Some XB bulbs and ballasts and be done with it.
