It is the housing that is spreading the light; halogen, HIDs, and LEDs will all spread almost the same in the stock housing.

I ran them for 11 years in my 2003 Ford Ranger Edge and never had a problem, not flashed once. Perhaps it was in the sweetspot of height? Who knows, hell I even pulled up behind police cars at stoplights in the night without any issue......................


Last year I upgraded to HID Projectors - holy crap the difference.

No.... they don't. You can argue with science all you want, but the laws of physics won't change just 'cause you want them to.

I rest half of my case... (the half where you have to let someone find out on their own that HIDs in halogen housings can NOT work well - like putting on someone else's prescription glasses)

I've also said that most (the vast majority) of LEOs can't be bothered or don't know what they're looking at. There are too few of them as it is to meet the demands of an increasing percentage of the population that fails to appreciate the work they do (crooks). But your anecdotal experiences can't change the science of lighting. Sorry. Read the link in the post above...
