Default High mileage

Looks like I'll be keeping my truck for a while. I'm at 65k now on my 5.4. I'm wondering what kind of mileage people get out of these plus what kind of major(over $1k) repairs had to be done during that time.

I pushed an 04 5.4 to nearly 200K with one tranny swap at 75K (done by dealer when I purchased and noted issues). Other than that it was solid. I still sold it for private party value, buyer was shocked it ran so well. Change your fluids/filters at or before specs (radiator, rear end, diff, tranny, etc..), all of them. Tune up every 50-75K, Clean/replace air cleaner every 3-5K. Run a good synthetic oil (Mobil 1, etc) in the engine. No reason not to get 200K out of a Ford engine these days if you keep up the maintenance. Maintain the inside just as well and selling that truck with 200K is MUCH easier!

That's good to hear. Yeah I'm pretty meticulous about maintenance and I've got a good service advisor that tells me when I need stuff and doesn't BS me.

I am old school. I have never left a spark plug in an engine longer than 50-75K or tranny fluid in much longer either. I had a service guy tell me I could go 150K without servicing the tranny in a vehicle before... Fluid and spark plugs are cheap!!! Change em often! LOL
