Default HELP, truck wrench light on. going into limp mode

I bought the 2010 f150 4 days ago. Ran and drove great. Yesterday I decided to straight pipe the exhaust. I cut the exhaust off just before the muffler. Drove it around, sounded much beefier. This morning I drive it to work 45 minutes no issues. After work I leave and almost immediately the wrench light comes on. So I stop and turn the truck off, turn it back on and all is well again. About 10 minutes later it comes on again. I pull into the auto store to pick up an elbow and tip to route the exhaust out the side of the truck just in front of the rear tire. When I leave the store I start the truck up and all is well again. I drive home an additional 20 minutes and the wrench light never came back on. Could this be due to me chopping the exhaust? And if so why? Lots of trucks around here run straight pipes with no issues. Of not what could be causing it? Manual says something about electronic throttle issue?? Please help, I need to get this figured out asap. Thanks!

Stock exhaust is way too quiet and most trucks around here run straight pipes and/or stacks. Didn't think it would be a big deal. I'm just not sure if it's related or not. People at the auto store didn't seem to think so but I'm really not sure.

did they not have a OBDII code reader to tell you what was going on? That is the most accurate and sure way to find out what the issue is

No check engine light. Only wrench light. Would it still have codes to read?

Wrench light is currently off, showing no signs of issues.

Will do tomorrow. Will codes show up even with the light currently off?
