Default Steering Wheel

Hey Guys,

Just wanted to see if anyone else was having an issue with their steering wheel covering flaking off? I have a 2010 STX scab, with about 24,000 miles and my steering wheel coating is coming off where i hold it. I try to switch the spots that i hold it but it doesn't take much for it to flake off.

I will post pics tomorrow so you can see what I'm talking about. I'm not sure if I should take it back to the dealer and see if I can get a new wheel or not. I know they will try and make me pay for it.

Thanks,
John

My 2009 xlt did the same thing. Went to the dealer, Ford replaced it.

yup I had a feeling the first time I held the wheel that this would happen (plus my 2000 had the same problem, but it never bothered me)

Even if they won't replace it just take it to an upholstery shop and they will rewrap it in leather. Last you forever.

Thanks for the post guys. I think I will take it to the dealer Friday and see what they have to say about it.

Yep we have 6 2009 f150 police trucks in our fleet. All 6 had steering wheels replaced at approx. 25k now at 52k dealer advises they are out of warranty. So be aware there is a problem even though they will not admit it. I do realize we use them more than an individual but I have seen private owners with the same issue.

Planman i'd get them leather wrapped like zacharyz said - you definitely won't have the problem happen again

Mine is OEM leather-wrapped steering wheel and a couple times it's flaked off in my hand. It was really weird cause its only ever happened those 2-3 times
