Default dipstick shows no oil

After running truck checked oil, wipped stick off. Stucked back in and checked it again. No oil. added 2qts, still no oil level. Checked for leaks none, guage is running normal. What could be the problem?

Level surface, truck takes what...7qts if I am not mistaken, and engine off, pull out wipe down, and re-insert, pull back out, and you should have a level...

Reminds me of a kid I read about on one of the Honda forums who literally 'filled' the engine with oil because he wasn't seeing the oil line on the dipstick. Kid kept adding oil until the filler neck was full (!), and THEN tried to start the engine....

Drain it. Add back seven quarts and check dipstick again.

Let the truck sit for a couple hours, then check the oil. I had an envoy that if you checked right after running, it would be low - 2 hours later all of the oil would drain back into the pan and you could get an accurate read.

Checking the right dipstick and adding the oil in the wrong place. Adding tranny and checking oil dipstick. Something is wrong here.
