2011 Lariat heated/cooled seats here too...

I agree that there is a fan of some sort. I was hearing a strange hissing type sound once, and couldn't find out where it was coming from (sounded like it was coming from the rear of the cab).

After my GF and I scratched our heads over it for a few minutes, I finally got out and sat in the back seat. It was clear that it was coming from under her seat (front passenger seat) - which had the heat on. When she turned the heat off - no hissing sound. When she turned it on - hissing sound. It's not constant, but it's there. It's probably only there when the heating elements get too hot...(?) (I've only heard it that one time - we'll see if it happens more over the next few months)

As for the lengthy time to heat up - mine seams to heat up very quickly. I usually turn it off w/i a few minutes with a sweaty ***. Though I haven't seen temps below 30 with this truck yet.

Maybe have it looked at?

So, confirmed with the dealer that there is some sort of fan that acts as an overtemp device.

I'm definitely not getting roasted out like some of you. And as I posted earlier, the first few times I used it, i recall it being much warmer.

I had my rig warmed up via remote start this evening at work (heated seats are set to auto for remote start) and had the seats on high for my 20+ drive home. Warm, but definitely not toasty. Equivalent to what level 1 - or maybe 2- should fee like.

Me thinks there's definitely something going on.

Heating element warms up first then fan turns on to blow through seat, you can feel it if you put your hand over seat. Could be the filter for the seats is clogged, or let the dealer figure it out.

Just want to clear up the discussion here. I work for the people that build these heated/ cooled components. If your seat has "Heating and Cooling" and it is a Ford, the Fan will be on for both Heat and Cool. For "Heat Only" seats, there is no fan, they are a wire based element like an electric blanket. The fan will only be on when actually heating or cooling the seat, once the temperature setpoint is reached the fan will go off. You can see the unit under the seat, it will have a circular white filter. Some other OEM's are different systems where there is no fan during heat.

Been a long time since the last post on this thread but I searched seats and came up with this one. I have an 11 eco, Lariat and have had a few questions about heated cooled seats. Come to find out after the seat would heat for about 10 min, lights would stay on and heat cut off. I have 41 k mi. on mine now and I had a hot spot in the center of the seat with heat. i drove my wife's Expy and felt heat all around the seat even on back of my legs. Been looking and watching how the seat operates and fan does come on and off during heat, constant fan under cool....IMO the leather seat is showing some compression and whatever system is used to distrbute the air is not functioning properly and causing the seat to heat quickly and too much, then high lmit shutting it down or about 30 min to reset at next ign off and restart. I'm in the thing driving somtimes 8 hours a day and my big butt has apparently woreout the paddingn the seat to obstruct the flow of air. Dealer is already on it and helping me out since itwas a demo an had a little over 5 k on it when I got it.
Any thoughts????

I have a 2011 lariat with leather heated/cooled seats.

I used the cooled seats quite a bit this summer. You could hear and feel the fan blowing nice cool air.

I don't live in a real cold climate (Oregon) and I garage my truck, so I haven't used the heated seats too much yet.

The problem Im having is that I remember the seats warming up fairly quickly and there being a pronounced heat on high when I first tried the heater.

It seems that recently now it takes a whilee to heat up and I hear a constant cycling on and off of the fan.

I'm particularly concerned about the fan. Is it normal to constantly cycle on and off (unlike the seat cooler which stays on)?

Again, I haven't used the heater consistently, and don't quite know what "normal" is.

Thanks.
I have the EXACT same thing happen, at first I thought something was wrong but it seems to do that every once in awhile while using the heated seat.

There is a fan for the heated seats too. I have never heard is, but can feel it blowing. The cooling seats just feel weird to me. Like you wet your pants.

Replaced the fan....same thing.....replaced the seat cushion and still may cut off and not come back on till I shut off engine and restart. Does anybody know if these have a "brain" ...thermostat...it must have a thermostat that controls the fan cycling...and.. the fan runs and cycles at a lower speed on heat. I understand the heater is built into the fan
