Default Heated/cooled seats

I'm wondering if I'm having a problem with my heated seats.

I have a 2011 lariat with leather heated/cooled seats.

I used the cooled seats quite a bit this summer. You could hear and feel the fan blowing nice cool air.

I don't live in a real cold climate (Oregon) and I garage my truck, so I haven't used the heated seats too much yet.

The problem Im having is that I remember the seats warming up fairly quickly and there being a pronounced heat on high when I first tried the heater.

It seems that recently now it takes a whilee to heat up and I hear a constant cycling on and off of the fan.

I'm particularly concerned about the fan. Is it normal to constantly cycle on and off (unlike the seat cooler which stays on)?

Again, I haven't used the heater consistently, and don't quite know what "normal" is.

Thanks.

I don't believe I have ever heard a fan with the heating portion on mine. They seem to heat up fairly quickly. I am usually turning them off within 5 minutes.

I haven't ever heard a fan on my seat heaters either. I think it is just heating wires like in an electric blanket.

There's definitely a fan in there somewhere. You can hear it pretty easily. When the seat cooling is running it's even louder.
Just to make sure we have the same type of seats, do you guys have heated AND cooled leather seats?

My wife's car has heated seats only and hers is does not have any type of fan.

I was just wondering the same thing. The last two mornings on the way work it seems it takes forever to heat up. my 11 superduty heated up quick, i was thinking about taking it in to check it out.

It hasn't gotten bitterly cold here yet, just into the lower 30s so far, but mine heat up quickly and I can hear the fan until the cab temp gets to the set temp. After that it cycles on and off at a semi-random rate.

The heated seats are controlled by a heating mat, and the cooled seats are through a fan system off the AC system. I have never heard a fan kicking on my seats and I use them every day. I could be wrong, but all of the cars that I have owned have always had a heating pad of some sort built within the seat. The heated seats do take a lot longer to heat up on colder days in my experience.

heated is just an element... And mine will cook you out on high within 5 minutes.

but then ordering my lariat without the center console... I opted for the 40/20/40 leather so we had 6 seats... I gave up cooled seats. Much to my dismay the cooling fan is unde that huge center console.

I have the heated and cooled seats and I have NEVER heard the fan come on in heated mode. Cool mode is pretty obvious when it kicks on. I have taken the back of the backrest off before to install my DVD headrest and saw how the fans work. Simple design, sucks in air from bottom of the seat via a small air duct and blows it thru the seat. So what ever the temp of the cab is, that is what is gonna flow thru your seat. Heated mode is like an electric blanket (NO FAN). Have it checked, the FAN should not come on.

Heating and cooling...no fan in cooling mode. just went and checked. Fan comes on in cooling..not in heating.
