Default Headlights randomly turn on with truck off

I got 2010 crew cab XLT and I've been noticing that my headlights randomly come on after the truck has been sitting around parked for a while. The lights come on for few seconds, then go off. It happens at random places, and random times (I only noticed this when it's dark though).

Anyone experienced something like that. I have a feeling that if I take it into dealership, they will just say that they cannot replicate the problem.

I know that if you have the factory security system and lock the vehicle after a short amount of time (15 or 30 seconds I believe) the alarm activates and the lights will flash. Wigged me out too when I first got my truck until I started investigating.

Also, for a short time after I bought it when the lights flashed the horn beeped also. Now just the lights flash. Not sure why it changed but I don't really care either. (off topic)

Hope this helps.

Maybe there's something wrong with your key-fob and it's sending a Lock or Unlock signal without you pushing the button.

You know you're going to have to catch that on video or Ford is gonna say they couldn't "reproduce" it.

Or, maybe someone in your household has fob and is playing games with you. Laughing out the loudness. Thanks

I've heard other stories of batteries dying after leaving a truck sit for a lengthy period of time - maybe this is related? ***knock on wood*** fortunately I do not have any of these issues with my truck.

I thought that my key fob may be bad, but it only turns on parking lights not headlights when I lock the truck.

Good point on setting up a video camera on the truck. I may do that so I have proof on what's going on.

Took it to Ford and after diagnosing all Friday they said it's something with "smart junction box". They are going to replace it once the part comes it. 3 days without my truck. I hope that's the right fix.
