Not sure if there have been posts on this, but my limited searching turned up more posts about HID conversions vs what I am wondering about...

I have a 2014 Limited w/ the stock HIDs. However, I find the throw / brightness of these lights to be less than impressive. The distance is not that great, the color could be cleaner & brighter, and it seems to angle off in a weird shape when it reaches the edges closer to the vehicle. Am I just too picky on this? Do I have a weird set of headlights? In my bimmer I felt like i was driving in the day time almost with those headlights. I feel like I am at half power at night and can see about half the distance sitting high up in a truck vs low down in my old car. Any alternative bulbs or anything that fit the stock lights? thanks

Try the Osram Cool Blue Intense bulb. They just started selling it in the stock D3S type, part #66340 cbi. They rate at 5000k compaired to the stock 4300k. I believe they are around $260 a pair from TRS.

These are the hbi d3s bulbs offered, which slightly differ from the cbi's. I have these bulbs and were a nice upgrade over the factory osrams. I got mine out of Germany for $85. You can look up the differences of them to make sure they're legit osrams and not knock offs. Even though they are labeled as cbi's, every pair of 66340s I've seen are the d3s 4850k hbi's. In all honesty, they're probably the same lol.

The cbi bulbs just came on the market within the last 10 days or so in D3S. To the best of my knowledge they are not the same as the hbi bulb, which has been around for a couple years.

No you're not too picky in this regard. I too had similar complaints and wishes with the outwardly throw. The rest of the light output was 100% satisfactory for my needs.

The ONLY way to get light out and low like you want is a projector swap. The bulb isn't going to do it alone. The EvoX-R projector is darn near a direct bolt in (it needs some fine tuning to be perfect). [MENTION=122444]bilinvic Retrofits[/MENTION] could hook you up with a projector swap. There's also another very reputable fella doing retro's but he isn't a vendor here so I won't mention his company.

Pretty much speaks for itself. It is the best upgrade you can do to the OEM HIDs for performance.

You can't compare another vehicle especially a foreign one to our trucks. With that said it's a good thing you got one with HID's because you practically need a seeing eye dog using stock halogens.

I thought the same thing that these HIDs are weak..difference from a buddy's car and my truck is the height of the vehicle. .drop your truck 2 feet and your lights will perform like your bimmer. .

That is not true. f150 projectors will never perform like a bimmer. The projector is a inferior projector.
