Default HD payload E rated tires - what tire pressure?

Question for those on here with the HD payload package: what tire pressure are you running unloaded? So far I have not changed mine - it is around 55-60psi as it came when I got it, which is pretty much in line with what it says on the sticker for max load, I believe.
Should be able to go lower when empty - and improve tire wear & possibly the ride a little, but I have been unable to find a load / pressure table for the Rugged Trails on BFG's website.
So has anybody seen a table like that, and what pressure are you running them empty?

from what I've read on this forum most people are running 45 psi unloaded and seem to like the ride.

I am running 40psi in my Yokohama''s and they are doing fine. I am in the middle of a two week trip from Cleveland to St Louis then Atlanta then back to Cleveland and the ride has been fine, in the rain and wind and what ever else I will see on the way way up 85 then 77.

Mine were at 45 but I started getting nags from the TPMS so I went to the recommended 55-60.

im running a constant 60psi in mine and im not experiencing and abnormal wear or anything. just a some what stiffer ride but i much prefer that to the soft squishy ride the truck had with the p-metric tires on it.

Going by ford's website for the HD payload package you have LT245/75/17 tires and by your post they are BFG rugged trails. If you go to tirerack.com that tire takes up to 80psi with a load of 3195 lbs. Tirerack.com seems to have all the spec's for just about any tire out there. But, for running empty I wouldn't go below 50 psi, below that may impact tire wear and you have to be careful if you fill it up to max load. Right now i am running BFG AT's E rating at 35psi but max on these are 65psi.

Flixden -

The tires that came on my truck seem "squatty" if thats a word... they look low to the eye. It may be a rim width thing, but I've been driving on E's for the last 15 years and they just look a bit different then I'm used to.

I've got about 53lbs all the way around. They drive fine, but now that the weather is nice and the windows are open, I can hear some "scrubbing" of tread on slow speed turns etc. It may just be me... its been a long time since I've have new tires That said - I'm sure I'll be looking at Michelin's when these wear out.

Here's a load table I saw SmokeyWren post a while back - not specific to BFG but as I understand it, its somewhat of a standard based on tire size.

LT245/75R17
PSI . Max load in pounds
---- . -----------------
35 . 1770
40 . 1945
45 . 2110
50 . 2270 (max for load range C)
55 . 2430
60 . 2595
65 . 2755 (max for load range D)
70 . 2900
75 . 3050
80 . 3195 (max for load range E)

It really depends on the tire type/construction and brand. I had some wrangler duratrac LT275R70R18E and I usually ran 52 when not loaded and they still looked like they were squatting. Anything lower than that and the shoulder tread was wearing and above 60 they felt like stone wheels. But on my SD F250 Michelin tires have 60 and don't squat or have too stiff a ride. The H2 I also have with some BF tires and I usually have about 50 and they wear good and don't squat.

Thanks everybody!
Good info here. Maybe I play around with it a little bit. But since I load up the truck frequently, this maybe more of a hassle than what it's worth.
Smokey, thanks for that table, I was looking for that.
Once the OEM tires need replacement, I think I'll go with Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 2 in 265/70R17. A little wider, same weight (= same mileage?), awesome ratings, same load, but pretty expensive unfortunately.
