Default Having some trouble with ford

Okay so here's the deal. Back on 7/23/14 my truck went In for warped rotors because I was getting a pulsating in my break pedal and my truck would shake when breaking ( back then I made a post on here about it) they cut my front rotor and replaced the rears

After a couple weeks I started hearing a humming noise when coming to full stops and some light shaking in the wheel. So I made another appointment with ford (I don't remember the exact date because I had to cancel that appointment It was early august at this point sometime around the 9th I believe). On 8/11/14 I left the country on vacation and on 8/29/14 I returned. After almost a month of being back when things at work settled down I finally got another chance to bring the truck in for the humming noise and shaking on this past friday morning the 26th.

I dropped my truck off on friday at 8:30am and at 2:45pm on the same day the service manager called me saying the front rotors were causing the problem and the truck was on the lift getting a new set of rotor as we speak. So around 4pm I went back to ford to pick up my truck. As I was being dropped off I saw the tech taking the truck out of the shop and on a test drive. So I went inside where I received my invoice and was told as soon as the truck came back from the test drive I could leave with it.

Well the tech came back and immediately pulled my truck into the garage and onto the lift. So I went inside the office and asked the manager what was going on, he left the office spoke to the tech and returned to tell me there was a noise coming from the front passenger break they were checking it out and I would be ready to go shortly. After about another 10mins the tech came into the office and informed the manager who informed me that the caliper was "distorted". So after that the manager took me to see the truck and explained to me that the caliper was making contact with the rotor causing friction and too much heat. He told me the truck wasn't safe to drive at that point even though he believed this wasn't a constant thing it was still a problem although intermediate. So they gave me a rental focus for the night and he reassured me the caliper was coming in the next morning and the truck would be ready then (Saturday)

Saturday morning at 9:30 I received a call from the manager that the caliper was in and it was being installed and as soon as it was on and road tested he would call me to come pick up my truck.

At 11:45 on Saturday the manager called me back and left me a message saying they replaced the caliper but there was still a problem with the caliper rubbing the rotor and making noise when they tested it. Now he tells me it must be one of the either hydraulic lines going to the breaks. At this point im a little tired of the guessing and asked if he was sure if this diagnosis and he reassured me he was and on Monday morning he would have the parts he needs and we will talk then.

Well I spoke to the manager at 9:15 this morning and he informed me that he had his techs working on it and he still believes its a hydraulic line but he is uncertain. When I asked if my truck would be ready today he informed me that it should be if everything goes to plan.

At the moment I'm still waiting for his call to update me on the situation.

Listen guys im still pretty young. In your opinions is it normal a problem to be misdiagnosed this many times? I'm starting to wonder if they even know what the hells going on. It's a new truck and when the problem started in July it had like 17k miles on it. This hydraulic line this is like their 4th excuse on why my truck is unsafe to drive. It also kind of worries me that they didn't catch the problem back in July when it was first there and since then I've been driving around with an "unsafe" truck. Anyway. I'll keep you guys posted.

Just part of the normal process of trying to fig out the problem. At least they are holding on to it and not letting you have it back only to need to bring it back multiple times.

I wouldn't worry about it. Let them change as many parts as they can to fix it. It's under warranty.

Trouble-shooting the mysteries can go just like you described... it's very normal. While its obviously inconvenient to be without your vehicle, you should feel very good about the fact that they are actively working on the issue, not wasting time, and doing everything they can to make it right.

Just be patient and know you're being taken care of, and it's not costing you anything more than the fact that you're without your truck for a few days or so.

Yeah I'd take that over them giving it back to you unfixed a bunch of times, at least they want it fixed right as well.

Look at it this way... they are trying and by the sounds of it more than understanding. The last time I took my fx4 in all the dealer did was try and prove if my truck was tuned or not and never did a damn thing with regards to my smelly poor performing a/c which was the reason I brought it in. At least you aren't dealing with that.

I would love to find a dealer that actually does their job.

MGNY13 Yep brother, that's the way it goes sometimes. It is good to read the dealership is working hard to find the problem. Good luck.

BTW, ask the tech to check the brake pads. On these F-150's the brakes pad must be put on in the proper position (i.e. right side pads, left side pads) or they will drag. It is strange the way Ford set this up, and I didn't know it until another member posted his brakes were dragging, and the fix was re-install the pads onto the proper caliper.

better be glad they just didn't blame it on Rancho Quicklifts, unless they did the install.

Post the dealer name. Sounds like they're trying to do right by you, maybe others in your area might like to know about the good service department.

Dealers like that are getting rare, they deserve the thumbs up.

Sounds like normal procedures to me. A crappy service department would tell you to take a hike but they seem to be taking care of the problem as best as they can.
