Default Having second thoughts on my level kit - post level experiences please?

I really would like to have a level on my truck and have an appointment with my mechanic to install it on Monday morning along with my new tires.

I got new Cooper ATP 275/60/20s and a Motofab 2.5" front level plus 3" rear blocks and u-bolts ready to roll.

Now I'm wondering if I should just put on the tires and call it a day.

I really don't want to have clunking issues on my truck and wonder if I'm just worrying for no reason. I really don't off-road and just prefer the look of a taller truck - most of my driving is in town with lots of old, bumpy streets with fairly big transitions on cross streets etc and I know having clunking problems with the suspension hitting other parts will make me insane if it happens.

I'm pretty ocd about my vehicles and odd noises and just don't want to put this on only to have to pay to have it removed in a few days.

Can anyone offer any insights on their experiences with post lift issues on their F150? Should I or shouldn't I?

Well, first reply post is from another who is conservative and likewise OCD, thus opted for no level kit. Although I like the look of moderately lifted F150 trucks, tradeoffs aren't worth it to me. FoMoCo OEM suspension rates and subsequent ride quality are engineered - not obsessed over for want of "the look". Your new tires being just 33" OD, I'd mount those and call it a day if it were my own truck.

Thinking I'll be the minority here with this perspective...

When I installed my 2" leveling spacer I had no clunking or banging of any parts and my ride seemed just as good. Now a 2.5" level, I don't have any experience with that

I'm on my third 150 with 2.5 level kits. I install them myself. Drive them 100k, (never off road though) and I've had no issues or noises, other than the speed bumps at work.....when they move them on me and I forget and catch one at 25-30 mph....It jumps a bit, Then goes to full droop and the upper control arms do clunk into the springs. Pretty rare event. Potholes around town don't do it. I've also installed 8 or 9 kits total, for friends, no issues.

If you're worried about it, you could get a smaller level up front, maybe a 1.5 or so, and leave the rear blocks alone. That's the route I have decided to try. I don't think it will put enough strain on the suspension to cause any problems (hopefully). It will also be cheaper. I ordered my 1.5" AS level for under 100 bucks.

Ahh, I'll say it...if your nervous...stay with a 2" kit. You'll still get over 2" of lift and the control arms will never hit. You also have plenty of brake line, hub vac hose and antilock brake wire slack with the 2" kit. With the 2.5s I typically lossen all of these up to give them some extra slack.....dam speed bumps at work.

Flynpigposted while I was typing. Lol

Auto spring kits is what I use. Dunno if the Motofab kit has the offset that AS uses.

Thanks guys. My problem is I have all the parts and an appointment for Monday and alignment (my guy doesn't do alignments) for Tuesday so there's no way I can wrangle up a different set of spacers before first thing Monday. :/

My son just had his 2005 done and it looks awesome. Makes me want to get my 2010 done. He did have the lower ball joints done at the same time to keep a good ride. It doesn't clunk or make weird noises at all. He put in a rough country 2.5 front lift and nothing in the back. Like I said before it looks good and drive just fine!!

Just go for it. I'm sure you'll love it, if not you can always change it up later.
