Issue: Dash warning to ‘Service AdvanceTrac’ keeps popping up

The error message is usually displayed after doing a sharp or full lock turn.

Possible Solutions:
  • Temporary- Straighten out your steering wheel and reset your truck.
  • Sticks may have gotten stuck in your wheel and simply need to be dislodged.
  • Reprogramming via dealer
  • Wheel sensor needs to be replaced
  • New steering rack

This just started happening about 2 weeks ago 51,000 miles. can not duplicate, hit the gas, hit the brakes, swerve, hard turn, tight turn ect..
Went to the dealer ship today to make an appt. they said it can be as ez as a software download to s sensor going bad. Have an apt at 8am. will update there findings.

No sure how to reach out to you, but so far they have said its the steering gear, 50,000 miles on the truck. This really concerns me I did purchase the extended warranty. Service Advisor said under the extended warranty its covered, all I owe is my deductible. Still I am concerned about the workmanship of this truck. This kind of a problem at only 50,000 miles. WOW.....disappointed. I will go on to say the people taking care of me seem to really care Service Advisor and Tech, so far, I have not got the truck back yet.

Default AdvanceTrac issues

I have a 2011 F150 xlt - 5.0 - Supercab. At about 35k the Service AdvanceTrac light came on. So with the Warranty soon to expire I made an appointment to get it checked out. The AdvanceTrac light was not activated when I took it in. They told me that they could not get it to activate again and sent me on my way. Now a few months later - it comes on daily. When It does come on I have no directionals - I have to hold the directional lever down to get them to blink. On 4/28 I called the Service desk and inquired about getting it fixed and since I had brought it in before the warranty expired would it be covered? The reply was no. Whether I brought it in before the warranty expired makes no difference. Now heres is where it gets interesting - They have no record of my vehicle being there for that issue. So even if they had a record it wasn't going to be covered. Believe me folks I don't drive to Columbus Wisconsin in the middle of winter for nothing. Now I need to say that I have no paper work my self and can't even tell you the exact date. I also made a call to my salesman - "Sorry I can't help you - You will have to work with Service people". All my service work has been done there. Not any more - never again. So I took it to a independent. Here is want I found out after he did a Code check. Code C1B00. Looks like it is the Steering Control Module. I just thought I would share this info to anyone having the same issues and save you the $99.00 diagnostic test charge that I was quoted. Hope this helps.

I feel your pain man. My truck is doing the same thing and dealer is acting funny about it. I guess the repair is about $1500 so of course they don't want to fix it. The sensor is part of the steering rack assembly and needs replaced as a whole unit, plus a front end alignment. thx for the code though.

I. Had this happen at 40,000 miles. Truck stored a code which pointed the dealer to a TSB for software update. Done. No charge.

Default Had that happen with 21,000 on my 2013

I had the Service advance track light come on along with a few others .... I found no codes and neither did the dealership ... It took them a week to find the problem .... If the ABS , Traction control(advance track) and Brake lights come on all at once along with service light ..... theres a good chance its an ABS sensor module .. Mine had rust on it which was caused by water in that axle housing from the prior owner ..... Thankfully Ford covered it , but said normally it wouldnt be . I only had the truck for 3 days prior to this happening ... I wasn't too happy until I found out it was all covered under warranty thanks to a good service writer

Unhappy software update fixed it

Same thing has been happening to my 2012 F150 Ecoboost Supercrew(26k miles). The service Advancetrac error would pop up occassionaly when I would back up and pull forward with the steering wheel turned sharp. Couldn't use turn signals without holding them down. Started happening more frequently and happened today when I had a scehduled appointment with dealer, so they got to see it. Dealer said truck needed a software update, so they flashed it...should be fixed now. We will see. Been having a lot of codes pop up lately on my truck. Had a cylinder six misfire error come up and dealer replaced catalytic converter. Windshield wipers were coming on by themselves at random. Turned out to be a faulty module in my steering column. Back window needed replaced because of heating elements going bad. I love Ford, but am not impressed with the issues I've been having and my truck is still in it's infant stage. I bought the exteneded warranty due to it being a newer technology engine. Right now I'm glad I did!!!

They reflashed mine when I took it in, but I still get the Service Advancetrac message occasionally. I believe they reprogrammed the ABS module or something.

The damaged cat is the result of the misfire, hopefully they also fixed the cause of the misfire...

It kinda sounds like your dealership is just doing band-aid fixes to get it through warranty. Hopefully I'm wrong.
