Issue: Dash warning to ‘Service AdvanceTrac’ keeps popping up

The error message is usually displayed after doing a sharp or full lock turn.

Possible Solutions:
  • Temporary- Straighten out your steering wheel and reset your truck.
  • Sticks may have gotten stuck in your wheel and simply need to be dislodged.
  • Reprogramming via dealer
  • Wheel sensor needs to be replaced
  • New steering rack

Got the truck back after 8 days. They replaced a couple of sensors.

Made it 3 hours before the AdvanceTrac went out again and I almost wrecked with no steering.

I'm beginning to wonder about this truck.

Wouldn't your truck fall under a lemon law?

I'm keeping all paperwork on mine for this reason.

My biggest issue is that the electric steering goes out when the AdvanceTrac stops working.

It's like no power steering but worse and jerks the other way from what I'm turning.

unfortunately Ontario Canada does not have a lemon law like USA does and ford says if it is on (light) and we turn it off and don't get it to come back on right away then there is nothing wrong. then you bought it it is your problem if we can't fix it.
ford Canada don't appear too care a whole lot

Wow that sucks.

There is a law here - Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act - that I've used before with Dodge when I had a lemon and arbitration (a sham) that didn't rule in my favor. Maybe you have something similar?

Good luck!

Dealer called me back this afternoon.

Said they flashed the steering steering shaft angle sensor or something similar. I'll find out more when I pick it up tomorrow.

I'm not holding my breath it's fixed...

Default My steering went out and my whole family almost died

I was making a turn yesterday and all sudden my steering wheel locks at 25mph!!!! I was able to avoid a telephone pole luckily. I shut truck off and then back on and steering halfway worked but jerking feedback was felt all the way home and now this morning I don't have any power steering. I'm reading the recalls on every other Ford electric power assist steering but not my truck!!!!!!! 1800$$$$ is the fix the dealer told me and they have the parts in stock and replace about 2 a week!! Seems like a ongoing issue to me.
Ford Please Help!!!

Btw I have a 2011 f150 fx4 3.5 with 74757.00 miles. Way to soon for something major to happen especially when it is happening enough for the dealer to stock a replacement rack and pinion. Come on!!!!

Anybody else had this problem and had ford do anything to make it right?

Mine was covered under warranty, but I'm really nervous about the lifespan of the new Fords. I had my last Ford for 13 years and 225K on the clock and all I had was a alternator at 140k and a trans at 200K.

A lot of stuff to go wrong with these new trucks.

Good luck!

I've always felt a catch in my steering at highway speeds when making a turn and coming out of the turn. Turning wheel back to neutral always felt "funny" thought it was my imagination because it is a new truck. I should've missed more work and sat at dealer while I had warranty I guess......
