Grille Guard - How Far do they stick out the front?
I have an '11 s-crew and I need some sort of grille guard or replacement bumper. I obviously want something that looks good, but my primary concern is thwarting any potential deer damage. However, my garage is already cramped (do they ever make garages big enough?) and I'm concerned about how much a grille guard/bumper will add to my overall length.
I was originally looking at the GoIndustries Rancher which is a really solid unit and priced reasonably. I emailed the company and they said that it would add about 7-8 inches to the overall length. This would work but would be awfully close!
I then started looking at replacement bumpers, thinking it might allow me a little more clearance since I wouldn't be bolting a grille guard in front of the stock bumper. I've been eyeing the Ranch Hand Summit Bullnose bumper, so I emailed Ranch Hand and they said it would add about 5 inches to the overall length. I would really like to see a profile picture of someone with this bumper to see how far out the pre-runner bar protrudes (from the pics I've seen it looks like a lot more than 5 inches).
I've also looked at the Iron Bull and Fab Fours product lines. The Fab Fours has a nice "high and tight" look on their pre-runner bumper, but I just can't justify throwing down $1,700 or more for some of these higher-end replacement bumpers.
I haven't seen many late model F-150's with grille guards or replacement bumpers, so any pictures would be a great help. Thanks guys.

Here is my Ranch Hand guard. I like it a bit better than the one from go industries. I think it sticks out about the same amount though. I think the ranch hand replacement bumpers with the full guard stick out about the same due to the grille being attached to the hood. It needs room to open. I am a fan of the iron bull bumpers myself though, but they are $$$$!!

Mines out of your stated price range clocking in at 1800$, but once you see it you just might change your mind. It looks 1000X better than a ranch hand and I love it, hit a deer at 70 and no damage at all.It wont work on an ecoboost though, you didnt state what motor you had. www.aliarc.com

Thanks for the pics, that helps a lot. I'm still waffling on whether to go with a grille guard or go for the full bumper.
That's quite the bumper Sultan! Mad Max was the first thing that came to my mind too, but it looks like it could take a deer without missing a beat for sure.

Summit Bullnose on my '09. From the center filler panel below the grille it sticks out 9". 10.5" if you measure from the blue oval.
I hit a deer and by doing the work myself, I saved the $500 deductible and $4 by replacing with this vs. the factory bumper complete assembly with all the brackets. Really easy. You just must have something to hold it up. I used the front end loader. Looks tough too! I am going to get the rear one as well.
