So I have used YellowFinii's Tasker setup on my tablet.

I have set up Tasker on my phone to turn on my hotspot when it connects to Sync.

When I turn on my car:
- my phone recognizes SYNC and kicks on hotspot (wifi)
- my tablet recognizes my phone hotspot (wifi) and connects to it
- my tablet recognizes my OBDII (BT) but doesn't connect to it
- my tablet recognizes SYNC (BT), but doesn't connect to it

I have to toggle my tablet BT off then on to get it to connect to OBDII and SYNC.

Does anyone have any help on getting tablet BT to auto connect?

There is an add on for taker that does BT auto connection. Even with that from time to time it doesn't work with my obd2 adapter. Works with sync pretty good though.

Sometimes that happens with me. its an issue with some BT radios in the devices and those radios interaction with OBDII unit. sometimes i have to read under and reset the OBDII plug and sometimes i cycle BT on off on the tablet. I have just been living with it for now since. I suppose you can write a tasker profile to cycle BT if those connections haven’t been established in a certain amount of time.

It seems to have cleared up after some tinkering. Now the only remaining issue is everyone else's issue - NO FREAKING SYNC DEFAULT TO BLUETOOTH AUDIO!

Default back up camera

With all the different Bluetooth cameras out there has anyone figured out a way to connect a Bluetooth camera to the tablet that can be used as a back up camera. I know that there was talk on here before about trying an adapter from a wired camera to the mini usb port on the tablet.

blackvue has some wifi cameras. They aren't for external use though. Not sure if that helps or not!

Never actually gotten around to installing tablet in truck last year but now the thought has come around again now that the weather will be warm again soon.

Still have the nexus 7 2012 that I bought and it updated to latest lollipop.
Interesting thing about it now is that after it sitting for couple weeks or so it shut off as expected.
As soon as I plugged it in into wall charger it booted right into android.
Normally what would happen with prior android versions is a reboot loop where it comes up and shuts back down because battery too low and does this over and over.
However it did NOT do this and stayed on until it fully charged.
I had at one point changed the setting that causes it to boot when plugged in but because of the reboot loop decided it wasn't worth having that option on and turned it off again.
Apparently the lollipop update does this automatically and is happy to run off AC power without rebooting. (Which my OLD Nexus One phone would also do with 0% battery.)
I'll be testing it again soon to see if I can duplicate this.
A dead tablet that boots and doesn't turn itself back off again would be perfect for a dash install.

4u cam already makes a back up camera for a tablet. It transmits the signal via a wifi signal, and u download an app on the tablet from the app store and that's it.

I had been looking at doing this in my Ram but was trying to figure out how to run it off of an external battery to avoid any heat issues with the lion battery.
I just picked up a '14 F150 so now I have even more reason to avoid burning it to the ground. I noticed the OP is in AZ and it looks like there are several others that have done this. Has anyone had issues with the tablet battery?

Also, don't know if it's been mentioned, but I believe there is an Ezcap model that works to allow a normal RCA webcam to be input to a tablet. I don't remember the details off the top of my head, but I believe you need one with a particular chipset.

I'm in CA, 100+ degrees at times. Never had any issues with heat that could potentially cause a fire.. Most tablets and such nowadays are equipped with a cool down mode when the tablet gets too hot to function properly so it's safe to say they're designed to handle the heat
