Question gear swap in central TX

Yes, I can use search. Yes, I've already done so.

That said, is anyone in the central TX area willing to entertain the idea of swapping their 3.31 (or lower) locking 4x4 axles for my 3.55 locking 4x4 axles? We'd only really have to pay for labor, and maybe a seal each, right?

I'm just curious as to why you want to?
I have the 3.55s and want 3.73s

So, my truck has a GVWR of 7200 lbs per the sticker on the door. Now, that number is the lowest weight rating for a 3.5L ecoboost - regardless of axle ratio apparently, because they don't distinguish between axle ratios and GVWR on their literature.

Per the 2013 sales literature, as far as conventional towing for my truck with the 3.55 gear ratio, there is only one GCWR and that's 15,500 lbs, with a max trailer weight of 9,600 lbs. For the 3.31 axle, it's 15,100 lbs GCWR and 9,200 lbs for the max trailer weight. (Interestingly, the owner's manual says something different: the GCWR for the 3.55 is 15,500 lbs, while the 3.31 is 14,000 lbs.)

When I bought this truck it was out of necessity because my last truck suddenly became unreliable and I needed something to get home with that I could also commute, go off-road for hunting or exploring/fun, haul my kids (I'm a single dad with custody), and haul some stuff in the bed like a stroller, dog & dog stuff, luggage, groceries, cooler, etc. The rare time I'll need to tow anything, the 3.31 will do the job just fine.

I've done a lot of towing in the past 23 years of driving from smaller utility trailers to 17k lb fifth-wheels, and I'm pretty sure I'm not going to tow that much weight with this truck. I also know what I do want out of the truck, and I don't need the taller rear end. I know that there are some people who think they want the 3.55 ratio, and I'm willing to swap with them. If I could, I'd go for the 3.15 ratio, but I don't think they made that for 4x4 and locking rear.

I'm sure someone will be interested but being close to you will be the problem!
Good luck
